Best Bars in the World

Scat Cat Bar (POFQ)--only Wed - Sat when Elliot Dyson (?) is playing, but he's a lot of fun, nice selection of Abita beers for New Orleans authenticity.

Cava de Tequila--I'll echo the praise, best margaritas you'll find anywhere. Worth the $15 price tag. Especially a fan of the blood orange and the jalepeno.

Tambu Lounge (by Ohana)--always busy, but a tropical atmosphere with the Poly, unique and tasty drinks.

Mizners (2nd floor of the Grand)--best bar staff on property. You would expect it to be stuffy, but they make it a fun place to hang out. Plus live music from the Grand Orchestra.

Thanks for the advice! Does a lot of dancing happen, or is it a sit and listen atmosphere?

Aside from the dances that are led by the staff (they do a couple cheesy songs per hour where they ask the audience to sing and dance along), I never see much dancing there.

No dancing, really. There are, as mentioned, a few dances every night where they'll have people marching around the room singing along, but that's about it. I have seen a few (inebriated) people get up and dance, but it's definitely not a dance club. The one thing you aren't allowed to do is approach the stage or the piano players. I've seen people do that and get politely (but firmly) escorted out of the club.

If you want to dance, you have to go next door to Atlantic Dance Hall.

Huh? Is that a new thing? We didn't go to Jellyrolls on our last visit. How do you request songs? When we've gone in the past (from 2006-2010), you wrote song requests on napkins, then walked them up on stage and left them on the pianos along with a tip.

Oh no, that's fine. I'm talking about people going up onstage trying to dance with them, sit down next to them, or touch them.

You can still write your song request on a napkin and drop it (along with a tip) in the bowl.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. I thought maybe they were quelling that interaction by having the waitresses run up the requests or something. They're already hustling around serving drinks; they'd be run ragged if they had to deliver the song requests too.
