Did I Make The Right Decision? Boardwalk Villas

As I count down the day of our or 20-somethingish trip to Disney, I'm wondering if a decision I made was right. We started going to Disney when my son was 3 (he's now 22), after a few years of the Contemporary, we switched to the Polynesian when he was a preteen, been there every year since, for our yearly Food and Wine festival vacation. Well now, him being in his 20s, we decided to try an Epcot resort, and changed our reservations from the Polynesian to Boardwalk Villas, a 1 bedroom. By trying to keep with tradition, I try to add something different every year (either by a new restaurant or a new adventure of some sort). I'm sure hoping I made a wise choice!! I mean as long as it's Disney, it's great..... right?!?!?!!?
Atleast we have ADRs at Ohanas! Any thoughts?? Thanks!!!!

Yes you absolutely made the right choice! The Boardwalk is fabulous! You will not be dissappointed. I look forward to our kids getting older so we can start throwing the Epcot Resorts in the mix again. Enjoy!! :sohappy::D

Great choice!
Boadwalk - even though it does not have a restaurant within it offers the choices of many along the Boardwalk itself.
There is a continental breakfast offered on lobby level in the Boardwalk Inn itself each morning for a quick breakfast. Kouzinnas has a great breakfast.
Walking distance to EPCOT and Studios. International Gateway opens early enough for a walk through to EPCOT itself (World Showcase opens late as most of us know)
You have made a great choice and the Villas are very good.
Try a lunch at Big River - I think you will enjoy it as much as we have.

We stay there as often as we can transfer our DVC reservations.

Boardwalk is the PERFECT location for a Food and Wine Festival trip. We usually end the day at Epcot no matter what park we start in and staying within walking distance makes it so easy.

Both resorts are fantastic - you really can't go wrong. But I do the same thing you are doing. Poly was my favorite resort before I stayed at the Boardwalk, and then it changed. I love staying at Epcot resorts and being able to walk to 2 parks. We also always do a meal at the Poly to get our fix - it's a perfect mix!

You definitely made the right choice. I stayed at the boardwalk villas last year for 8 days during the food and wine festival and it was great to just walk over to epcot and taste all that great food, wine and beer. Having that within walking distance of your hotel room is a great perk about this fantastic hotel.

good decision

for the 21 and older guests... staying at the Boardwalk means a great night or two (or more) enjoying Jelly Rolls and not having to take a taxi back to your resort... our new favourite place to have a "burger and beer" is the Crew's Cup at the Yacht Club...

Thank you all for your input!!!! I'm excited even more now!! We have been seriously considering the DVC, and thought also, we could check out the villas, on top of being so close to EPCOT.:sohappy::sohappy:

I kinda didn't enjoy my stay at the boardwalk villas. I was used to old key west where you can park pretty much next to your room. This wasn't so bad the first day parking in the main parking lot and then walking up to the room. The next day I had 3 blisters on the bottom of each foot and I was pretty much crippled. So that walk was horrible every time we left and came back to the resort. Where I know it wouldn't have been too bad if we had the OKW villas instead. Oh how I wish I could have not developed those blisters it put such a damper on the vacation.

Did you get a courtesy wheelchair from the resort?

I have stayed at the Boardwalk Villas a few times and I think I liked the Yacht Club better out of the Epcot resorts. With that said it is a nice location and you can eat along the boardwalk and get into Epcot quick. I would say you could get into Hollywood Studios quick except the boat to the Studios is painfully slow. I was disappointed that there was no food late at night. I am use to grabbing something at Captain Cook’s after the parks since it is open 24 hours but the Boardwalk does not have any food late at night.

It will be nice to try something different and the area over there is fun. Enjoy your trip.

It has always been faster for the young guys to walk to Studios.
The boat is for older guys, such as me.

No, honestly didn't know about them, but at the same time I had to watch two children so being hunkered down in a wheelchair was really not an option. My wife was also pushing a stroller, gotta keep the kids safe even at your own expense

perfect spot for that type of trip! we enjoy many other resorts, but for food and wine, it's perfect. as a few others made mention of, there is more nightlife to enjoy as well! we ususally make at least one trip to jellyrolls for some night time entertainment, and espnzone is a great stop for your sports fix!

(i'm really trying hard to not throw a comment about how pleasure island can fit perfectly into a family vacation..... seeing that this particular family is a perfect example of disney limiting itself.) (guess i didn't try hard enough...:D)

enjoy your trip!!!!! you'll love it!!!

I was so looking forward to enjoying a philly cheesesteak at ESPN while watching my Birds play, but with this football lockout, I may be the only one with an Eagles Jersey on, with my cheesesteak and singing "Flyyyy Eagles Flyyyy on the Road to victoryyyyyyyy" and hearing crickets!! :ROFLOL:
