Magic Kingdom operating hours greatly extended for April

Sweet great news, love going to Disney with its late times. When the park closes early its always a mad rush of people at 9pm. When it closes at 3am its great because that means that most people leave after the fireworks and then less wait times on rides until 3 am.

April crowded-May- confortable

I hope not. Don't extended hours usually equate to more crowds. I'm hoping mid-May to be realtively crowd-less.
We have been to the "World" many times during April with our boys when they were younger. The Northeast has a week vacation period, usually the 3rd full week in April. So WDW can be very busy the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April. May is usually not to crazy with mid level crowds and average wait times Have a blast. :sohappy:

My impression is that is usually for the 2 weeks centered around Easter Weekend which would be about April 16, 2011 - April 28, 2011. This year.. the 3rd full week of APril does fall within that timeframe :-). For those paying close attention, those are exactly the blackout dates for Seasonal passholders. During that time.. even AK is scheduled to be open until 8pm. :lookaroun

YIPEE!!!!! :) :) :)

Thanks for the awesome news!

Midnight or 1 AM close every night of the month! Double the MSEP showings nightly with an 11 PM parade EVERY NIGHT with hardly anyone watching in Frontierland = walking up right before the parade passes and getting a PERFECT spot! Without having to get to the parade early to get a good spot and losing attraction time like when they only run the parade once a night, a few nights a week, during the highly touted "slow season".

And with the midnight or 1 AM closing instead of 11 PM, that means time for walk-ons on attractions AFTER the 11 PM parade! And no park closings WITH the fireworks like during "slow season" as WDW Local said, making the exit of the park at closing a wall-to-wall MOB of people and the transportation system overstrained.

And in my experience, the 8 AM opening (even during peak periods) means less people there at rope drop and more time to "surf the wave of walk-ons" in the morning before the park starts to fill up with late sleepers!

This is going to be swell! :)

EDIT - WOW! I just noticed Animal Kingdom is doing some 9 PM closings the week before Easter! This means that even though we are in Daylight Savings Time, there will be a chance to get some night rides on Everest the last half-hour before closing! :)

Not that I doubt you Steve, but I noticed these hours are not yet on Disney's website, or even other fan sites. So are you certain of these hours? How do you get this information so fast?

I'll be there April 9 - 14 and I love the 8 am-12 midnight (at least) hours for MK every day! And two parades every night?! Thanks for the great news!

And yes I know it will be crowded but this was just planned as a last minute trip so who cares! A week ago I didn't even think I was going back until October!

That is so bizarre because last I checked pretty much every Disney resort was available the week prior to Easter. Glad I chose not to go that week.

That's good! I'm also headed down in mid-May and was slightly disappointed by some of the park hours. I never stayed at Animal Kingdom's EMH and heard it was awesome - I'm sad that it's gone away and I'll never get to see that park at night. :(

I'm definitely a night person and love being in the parks when they're lit up at night, I think it's the neatest atmosphere within the parks! I bet they'll extend some hours. I remember my last trip to WDW they were keeping parks open later and not announcing it until a day or two later.

awesome

I really hope they do this for late may early june. I love walking away from fireworks crowds back into the park to walk on whatever rides I wish:ROFLOL:

As a Florida native, I'd like to point out that Spring Break in Florida is basically a two-month event, as schools across the country (and the world) stagger a lot. The Northeast may have the 2nd or 3rd week of April, but that doesn't necessarily translate to the midwest or even Europe. The high season is the week before and after Easter, but there's a lot of overflow for several weeks on either side.

That said, Easter is April 24th this year, so by early May, the Florida tourist population drops a bit until school ends (which in my county in Florida is May 28th). The floodgates at Disney ramp up quite a bit after that.

I will be there then and ......

the way I look at it is this is great news. The crowds levels were going to be what they are going to be. This news doesn't change what they are going to be. Very, very few people are going to hear this news, and then decide, "Oh, ok lets go." That factor has already been determined. All this does is allow them to be spread slightly more thinly.

Disney has updated the park hours on their site (at least for my week, 4/2-4/9). I know it took them a few extra days to do that.
