Bring back the fireworks at Hollywood Studios

I remember when they had fireworks at MGM Studios, and it was so relaxing watching them there. Why did they stop? We used to stay at Carribean Beach and would be able to see them so clear from the pool.

If I am not mistaken they have to shut down a fair portion of the park to do this including Pixar place. Also the viewing angles for fireworks at DHS are not the best. Fantasmic has for all intents and purposes replaced the fireworks.

I believe that some people have stated that the whole back half of the park gets closed for fallout. (Not sure if this is true, I can't remember much about the fireworks at DHS) And dropping the BAH in the middle of the viewing area can't help any.

In that case, bring back Fantsamic! (nightly)

(And update it while you're at it.)

I would settle for an update. The chaos that reduced showings has created makes Fantasmic a no go for me in it's current state. I see no need to deal with all of that to see the same old show.

Yep, which really reduces the need to spend an entire day at DHS.

AIE is a lousy substitute. We sat through the finale show once. It was okay for what it was. But I wouldn't want to sit through that thing again!

I have heard the same thing. When the back portion of the park was really just the tour, it wasn't as much of a big deal. Now that the entire back of the park is open to foot traffic and there are attractions it would never work in it's old execution.

I hate to be the dumb one, but what's AIE?

Not dumb at all.

As Master Yoday pointed out, it's the American Idol Experience. It's not a bad show at all. But the finale is rather long. I enjoyed the production values of the show and the singers were all talented enough. But as long as it was, I wouldn't care to sit through the whole thing again any time soon.

Since F! is frequently a madhouse on the days it shows and it is pretty out of date and I have no desire to repeat the finale of AIE, I find that DHS is currently a park without a capper for me.

I enjoy DHS, but they have limited rides. And the shows have limited repeatability. Having seen them all multiple times, I have to really stretch to make it a full day park. And without a nightly show to keep me around, I find I have very little incentive to spend whole day there any more.

Instead, we have a very lively half day and then call it quits early or park hop somewhere else.

I do like DHS, but I think it really needs a lot of TLC in its current state.

Agree on all points. As a general rule about the only time we spend a full day in DHS is during SWW.

I agree as well, and almost think that it could use some TLC over AK at this point. Outside of Sunset Blvd, the park lacks in repeatability. At least for a Disney fanatic like myself there is a ton of detail in the park that works to make a very cohesive and enjoyable story. So I find myself walking around the studios a lot and taking in a number of the details. However, I am probably in the 2% that actually do this.

I am also in that 2%.

TSM helps, but the lines are so long you can forget about re-rideablity. You ride that with a FP or you don't ride at all.

ST2 should help as well. But the park will still need a couple of good rides to round out the show-heavy offerings.

As a dad with young kids, I'd like to see a dark ride (or two). That would go a long way towards rounding out the parks' current roster of 1. shows 2. thrill rides and 3. the worst parade on property :brick:

Ok, thanks. I should have come up with that, since my wife actually participated in it and made the final show once (she ended up second place). I agree the show is not bad (except for the "get up and dance" portion), but the finale is long.

Agree on all points. Except that we do see Beauty and the Beast on every visit. :)

Agreed. I rode TSM for the first time in a year this past January because of the lines. While I enjoy the attraction, I just can't justify 60+ minutes of waiting at this point (it's still no Splash Mountain to me). I have a feeling that if or when we see the Monsters Inc coaster it will be more family friendly so the height requirement can be lower. I don't really see a major dark ride making it's way into the park, but more family friendly thrills are probably on the horizon.

Agreed.

By the time Monsters Inc (or whatever) gets here, family thrills may be more ideal for my family anyway ;)

At this point, I'll take anything that adds capacity and re-rideability.

If it contributes to the overall theme of the park (which is currently something of a mess) so much the better. But beggers can't be choosers.

I think that the theme is unfortunately a work in progress at this point...I think that as time goes it will be called more of a look at the Hollywood from the 30s to today since you range a lot of decades from Hollywood Blvd to Pixar Place. Unfortunately the original design for the park was never really meant to be used as it is today.

I've discussed this with my brother (at length!) and we've come to more or less the same conclussion. As long as the front of the park retains that "Hollywood that never was" feel, I'm fine with it. And I'm excited about the possibilities of an expanded Pixar Place. It's all the stuff in the middle that's a little squishy. I don't see that changing, but I can deal.

Without diverging this into a larger discussion about the merits of DHS's theme, attractions, etc., I will say that I do miss Sorcery in the Sky. Not the greatest pyro, but a fantastic soundtrack.
