after 4 years of hard times, im seriously planning a return to the world, (omg im SO friggen excited). id really like the wl, (poly would be awesome) but probably going to stay at the coranado springs again. the main question is, how do you get these upgrades i hear about? is it to another resort, or the club level?? im book through a travel agent so i can make payments.

another question is, (other then the dumboland part) when was the phase 1 fl expansion going to be finished? im going the first 2 weeks in dec.

To answer your second question first: if you mean *this* December, then absolutely none of the Fantasyland Expansion will be open. It won't start opening in phases until Fall 2012.

As for upgrades, if you're talking about people who get upgrades from one resort to another for free, those are usually because Disney has over-booked the hotel the Guest is booked at, and either upgrades them when they get there (which usually only happens when they've over-booked by a room or two), or they get an offer in the mail or email to upgrade, which happens when they realize they've really overbooked and it's in Disney's best interest to have the Guests go directly to the upgrade resort when they arrive.

If people are upgraded in terms of view in the resort they're booked at, it's either at the whim of the CM at checkin who decides to give the Guest a "magical moment", or due to operating necessity at the resort (such as a block of standard view rooms having to be closed off unexpectedly for maintenance reasons, and they have to upgrade Guests who would've been in those rooms to a nicer view or to Club Level, whatever is available).

In both cases, upgrades truly are luck-of-the-draw.

Rather than start another thread, an exact date hasn't been set yet correct?
We are planning on going the last week in August 2012...

They don't have an exact date yet. Tentatively its Fall 2012. They may have some stuff ready by then? I can't say for sure because I haven't been following exactly what they're doing and how long each project will take.
