I didn't know the Fountain of Nations could Rock out like this

Maybe it was just running one of the preset shows just without the music? Doesn't seem to be synced with the music much at all. Only other thing I could think of is them using an equalizer style program with the fountains.

Haha! That's my video. I thought it was pretty cool when I was there. I think they started that around 9pm, with a DJ on the stage. The fountain wasn't programmed with the music, but there were people in the control booth at the time.

I really have no idea if this is even possible, but I got the impression that they were sort of controlling it on the spot... like parts *did go with the music, and there would be big gaps where it wasn't doing anything, even in the middle of songs. Definitely wasn't the regular programs. Of course, I'm probably wrong, since I know nothing about the tech aspects of the fountain.

Nice video, it might of been going off to the Christmas loop and thats nonstop. I have a feeling the fountain system is from the dinosaur age and before windows 95 but you never know. It did look like it was partying a bit.

When we were went in December, it was great to see the Fountain rocking out to the old Lights of Winter music, pretty much nonstop without the "regular" fountain in between. It fact, I'd say it was almost worth the LoW tradeoff for the perpetually running fountain... :lookaroun

Which is what it was. From 2:16 til 3:20ish is definitely Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

It would be, except that for many years it was not a tradeoff. We used to have both: the Lights of Winter AND the Fountain of Nations dancing to the music of the LoW.

From the WDWMagic LoW page:

The Lights of Winter at Epcot is a canopy archway of 30,000 lights, running along the walkway from Future World to the World Showcase Plaza. Each night during Epcot's Holidays Around the World holiday season, the archway creates a spectacle of synchronised dancing lights, combined with the Fountain of Nations, all orchestrated to holiday music.

The FoN always danced to the Lights of Winter soundtrack, even when the LoW was still running.

...Oh. Well that's disappointing. :( It sure was nice, though, to be able to walk up the fountain at any time of day and see it doing a show.

Pretty much anything the Fountain does now is what it did in 1994 and had one additional song added for the Millennium Celebration which was added in 1994. That system is a dinosaur, If its running to the Lights of Winter music now, it was then to. It took 3 months to program that music, there is no way in 2009 they took those couple of weeks to install that nonstop track unless someone was sitting in there controlling it all day. I cant even believe the original hardware running that fountain hasn't died out yet. I hope my computer lasts that long.
