Just had dinner there last night for my second time and I can honestly say that its the best dining experience in Disney. I know people like Le Celier and V&A...but, I can go to steakhouses at home. The food at Boma is great and unique which makes it my favorite dining spot.

I really like it too. When I eat out, I want something different that I can't easily get at home. I have been hearing that the price has crept up. What did you pay per person excluding drinks?

I paid $70.27 dollars for two of us with two lemonades....I don't remember what the meal cost by it self but the grand total with tip was $83.47.

Heading for the great escape.
Boma is OK food has gone down in standrad and variety a lot, it is spoiled by the herds of uncontrolled sprogs allowed to sweep across the dining room as if its a play area.

Boma vs. V&A ?

Really ?

One is a buffet that has decent food, but it's still a buffet.

The other is a full service fine dining restaurant.

They are not even in the same class.

Agreed. Was about to post the same Dave. You just can't compare the two at all. And while I'd say Boma is one of the best buffets on property, and I've eaten there many times for breakfast and dinner, it will never be able to come within a mile of V&A.

Heck, Jiko, right next door to Boma, and Sanaa at the AKV are both stellar choices as well. I don't think Boma can hold a candle to either of them.

Don't get me wrong here, I like Boma very much, we make it a point to eat their several times each year on our vacations. Mostly breakfast though as I don't like wasting a Disney dinner dining on a buffet, I'd rather be sitting down at V&A, Jiko, Flying Fish, Bistro de Paris, or one of the many other wonderful places to choose from.

Well, thats my $.02

We tried Boma on our last trip after reading all the raves about it and basically to satisfy my curiousity. If anyone ever has trouble getting a reservation at this place, it's not going to be my fault, because I don't see any reason to ever eat here again. We had dinner here, and have never tried the breakfast. I've had counter service that was better than this, but that's just me.

Not my favorite either. Bothers me to pay $40 each to serve ourselves. The place was packed, loud and you had to go back several times because some of the plates were empty.

We just got back last week and dined at Boma (dinner) for the first time. While I really liked it, it wasn't for everyone in my party. DH also was upset with what we got for the price. In this regard I agree with him- there were a lot of offerings at the buffet, but nothing that justified a nearly $40 pp price tag. I don't mind spending that on a buffet- after all- you'd spend around that on most decent buffets in Vegas, but it just didn't feel like there was enough substance in the buffet offerings to justify the price. I'd go back to AKL to try Jiko, but I don't see us returning to Boma...at least not for quite some time. As for the best at Disney, due to time constraints, we had to cxl our one true signature ressie; however, we had other TS meals at WDW that were only 1 credit that were better than Boma...and surely V&A as well as many of the other sigs trumps anything Boma has out there, but everyone is also entitled to their own opinions.

Yea, it is a bit on the expensive side. Like I said earlier, we mostly eat breakfast there. It's good, probebly one of the best spreads I've had except for the Sunrise Safari tour meal we got in AK at Tusker house. That was huge and fantastic!

But it is a better buffet in WDW to go to. But you are right, it can get very loud, crowded, and the most popular foods run out quickly, but they do replace them fairly quickly as well.

We usally go around 8:00am-8:30am, and it's no where near as busy as other times i've seen it though, so time of day does make a big difference.

Have fun!

And.... per the tipping thread. Add 20% to the check... lucky servers.
I don't mean to be snarky. Maybe the wait staff is working like crazy that isn't seen.

Boma is not the best place to eat in all of DW. Boma is a nice and refreshing change of pace far as Buffet's goes. I also had eaten Lunch at the Tusker House as well and thouroughly enjoyed that too. But let's get back to to earth here, How can Boma be the Best when you compare it To Fulton's Crab House or Teppan Edo or or The Grande Floridian Cafe which is so much better in quality and taste. It really comes down to one own opion and taste's and of course the experience at that momnet and time needs to be included as well.

Exactly, because my opinion of Teppan Edo is it is a second rate place. Maybe I'll give it an other shot someday, but I was not impressed when I was there.

That does ring true. Peoples opinions here about good restaurants vary greatly. I sometime have to scratch my head and wonder if we are both eating at the same place.

Seeing things like "Coral Reef is the best seafood I've ever had", knowing that you have places like Flying Fish or Narcoossee so close by. Or I hear "For the best steak in WDW goto Le Cellier". They just must not know Yachtsman Steakhouse and Shula's Steak House are nearby.

It's deffinatly opinion, and the ability to be able to try all these places as well. I would have never been able to afford to eat at some of these restaurants when I was younger, but I look forward to them every year now.

I will confess, I look forward to the restaurants more than anything else on our yearly trip to the Mouse. My wife and I go back and forth on our choices every year. I've even added another day just to get in another dinner.

I have nothing against the counter service places, buffet, or average table service places. Heck, I never miss a chance for an egg roll at Lotus Blossom Cafe. But why would I ever eat there for dinner? I'd rather sit down at Bistro.

But thats just me... :D

I must say that Boma is one of our favorites too!!! We are a "family" of 11 so buffet is the best way to go. It is sooo nice for the kiddos to run up their and pick whatever they want. It is soooo much easier for us. And I personally don't like to be waited on and served. There is so much variety and even boring things like pasta and french fries for the people who don't like to try new things.lol

Boma is LOVELY but, It's by no means the best in WDW, maybe in your opinion (which I respect) but not mine (mine is a tie between Artist Point and Coral Reef!)
