Anyone not like the castle walls idea?

Just for fun discussion, is anyone else here not crazy about the castle walls that are apparently going to run through the middle of fantasyland? For some reason it bothers me, Im just not crazy about the idea of concrete walls running through the middle like a neighborhood subdivision. I realize fantasy forest is going to be like its own subdivision, but still gray stone walls snaking through turns me off on top of so much concrete. I guess we will see trees standing over them or maybe different things will be planted along them?

Sorry, Aladdin2007, but you're in a very small minority.

Besides, the walls are going to look just like the castle's walls anyway, having the same design style and whatnot.

I think I get what you are saying. I must say though that I think the little 'city wall' looks good.

It creates a courtyard impression. You enter / exit it to the city or countryside. Looks good and sounds good to me.
The little overhead buildings seprating FL from LS and FL from AL work very well too.

At DL Paris, I think FL is too open. I almost get lost in there, like I'm out at sea. The little stuff separating the different areas doesn't really work for me. Bearing this in mind, the wall could also not work as well as intended.

Interesting pros and cons there. I like what you said about courtyard impression though, didnt think of it that way. Hopefully it will be something on that order.......previous messages I wasnt trying to judge, just discussing what it appears to be and what others think of the planned addition in general.

I was worried about appearances but I think it will help to "herd" the families with little ones into the area a little better. I have faith that it will all look amazing when it is completed.

Interesting view on Paris. I was there last week and loved the fact that I could see most of Fantasyland at once (except for Storybookland), but that each attraction was set off visually by floral or architectual elements.

As to the walls, they seem unnecessary to me, but I'll wait to see what they look like. I have found that when WDW spends money on something that seems unnecessary to me, it winds up looking good (see Mexico M&G). Of course, they too often DON'T spend money on things I that think are important, but that's another story.

It looks like it will make the castle appear even more grand and sprawling, but it can also cause crowding up and stroller parking central.

Either way, pros and cons.

I honestly think it'll look really nice. It will probably have small trees and shrubs near the bottom with flowers and such. It'd be cool if the top of the walls could be walked on, like on the opening day of the New Fantasyland, they could do the speeches, and ceremonies from the top of the walls.

Well, I'd hope that the walls wouldn't exactly be stark concrete walls, like it seems you think. I'd think they be themed stone walls with blue roofs that match the castle and it's other walls. I think that will look great.

I think they would work better between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Good point. Right now, it's the least seamless of the transitions between lands (from my memory and in my opinion). However, because most of Fantasyland is hidden to the left when approaching from Tomorrowland, it doesn't visually look to be that big of a deal. However I think with FL expanding into Toontown Fair, it might from a more concrete (no pun intended) barrier for the sight lines.

We'll have to wait and see what it will look like as construction progresses.

Agreed. The sudden transition over there by the teacups and Cosmic Ray's is just jarring. It really bugs me that you see the fantastical teacups spinning behind the futuristic Sonny Eclipse when you eat at Cosmic's. :(

You have seen a medieval castle correct? The castle has walls that surrounds a mini-village inside of it to protect them from attack. Empress Lilly explains it better but it will help make the area look alot better.

Other than that AA, what part of Cosmic Ray's looks remotely futuristic?
