According to a face to face conversation I had with an Imagineer last year Night Kingdom is still on, it just has no hard date as to when it'll ever begin consutruction...so take that information as you will.

Of course the imagineer I spoke with (John Swoap) left Disney just before our meeting so there's no telling how current his information is either but he still has close ties with WDI.

This is just me but I just don't see any need for this.

Couldn't agree more!

From all the information I've gathered on the project it's to have a ridiculous ticket price (upwards of 300 bucks) and while it has been said the return of the Adventurer's Club would be attached to it...with that is to be available at this Night Kingdom (which so far as I can tell was to be an extention of Animal Kingdom utilized in the evening and overnight hours) I dont' see it having a very long shelf life.

Why not allocate those funds to something more pressing...like making Epcot awesome again!

there is a need, (you just aren't the target demographic). My favorite experience in Orlando, is Discovery Cove. If it was possible to buy a season pass, I would drop whatever money it cost and I would buy one.

I haven't heard news on this project since 08. Le sigh.

I definitely think that there was a need for it and a great option for a demographic of guests that are looking for a premium experience at Walt Disney World. What I didn't feel there was a need for was the offerings that Night Kingdom had on its slate of attractions.
When I think of a Signature Disney Experience I don't feel that feeding hippos and ziplining over crocodiles fit in that description. When I think of a signature Disney experience I would expect a little more fantasy, not looking at a grassland through infared glasses to look at animals eating. I hope plans are still a go for something like this, I just wish it would be more "DISNEY"

Night Kingdom was Rasulo's pet project. When the economy died, so did plans for the Night Kingdom. With the state of the economy (and I don't believe anyone else is vouching for the project), I think we can say safely that Night Kingdom is not going to make a return.

From what I have read online it is definately on hold for now(Economy & putting other stuff ahead of it) But I think that that experience would be awesome, I hope they do find a way to do it.

Agreed completely. Work needs to be done and money needs to be spent on fixing up the already existing parks.

Plus I think the Night Kingdom concept was a terrible idea. You simply can't duplicate a concept similar to Discovery Cove without it being swimming with dolphins!

Agreed they can barely keep the 6 parks they already have up to Disney standard and people want another one. No thankyou lets work on what is already there.

The thing is, from what I was told wasn't even going to be a legitimate NEW park. More of an expansion of Animal Kingdom.

With everything that was described to be that was what I gathered.

Really I always heard that it would be near DTD.

From what Iwas told it almost be like a different experience throughout Animal Kingdom. With a possible newer version of the Adventurer's Club as the main gate in. Each guest would be assigned an member of the Adventurer's Club to escort them through the experience.

Again take all this with a grain of salt but it did come from a former WDI member's mouth.

I would not be too sure. Disney has wanted to get into the boutique park market since Discovery Cove opened and Night Kingdom seemed to be the most plausible concept. It would not surprise me if Night Kingdom gets dusted off and re-pitched in a few years.

Exactly. I keep my ears to the ground for any word. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if we saw this appear as a stand alone venue some where else in the world first.

While off site is definitely possibility one would think that WDW would be the idea place for it. The amount of infrastructure that already exists in WDW (resorts, transportation, animal care facilities, etc) would IMHO make an having it a WDW quite financially attractive. The only possible con I can see to having it on property would be competition between NK the 4 existing parks but considering the demographic that NK is aimed at I do doubt that would happen to any significant degree.
