Can You Solve This Magical Mystery???

Unfortunately, not Beatles related... but I'm trying to help Mr. Eagle figure out something that's been bothering him for a while....

His first trip to WDW was in the late 70s when he was 11 years old. They stayed at Ft. Wilderness, and attended Hoop Dee Doo.

He also (apparently) attended another show that involved a magician. Here is what he remembers about the show (and yes, I realize this story is begging for a "that's what she said" type joke): he was called up on stage to "assist" the magician, and everytime the magician handed him the magic wand, it would flop over. When the magician held it, it behaved like a wand, but not when Mr. Eagle held it. There's a (grainy) old photo of 11-year-old Mr. Eagle doubled over with laughter while holding the malfunctioning wand.

For the longest time, he thought it was Hoop Dee Doo, but we went to HDD this past December, and realized there is no magician/wand act in that show.

Can anyone identify what this might have been? There is always a chance that it was a show somewhere off property, so even if it's not a Disney show, and you know what it might have been, I'd love to be able to help solve the mystery. Thanks!

I bet it was the Diamond Horseshoe Revue - one of the original shows in Frontierland. Kids were called up on stage all the time and it had a magician.

Daimond Horseshoe Revue is what I was also going to say...They had the guy come up with his bag and he would call kids up and do tricks like that..:D

I miss that show. TDO should be ashamed of what they let it become. A seasonal quick service location? Pathetic.

We used to rush to the park in the morning so we could get to City Hall and make reservations because the show would run out of seats. It was my grandfather's favorite attraction in WDW. He was bald and every single time we'd go, he'd be the guy that the woman would come out and kiss him on the top of his bald head leaving the red lip prints. It never got old.

We used to split up when we'd get to MK - I'd go rent a stroller while DH would go get reservations for Diamond Horseshoe for lunch. It's was always a fun break in the day!

My daddy..yeah..he would never have been able to get the reservation...:D
We probably sat next to each other there and never knew it! Do you remember when they had food there?

I know..:D

Yep...I sure do...We went all the time..It was a great show..I LOVED SINGING ..Down by the old mill stream...
The last time we were there, DH's hairline was noticably receding. When the singer came around he was totally convinced that she was going to kiss his head, so he turned his chair and kind of leaned her way. To his total dismay, she kissed the totally bald gentleman sitting right behind him. We laughed our heads off about that!

Ooooooo! DD always wanted to, but she never got picked. Finally one time at Hoop-Dee-Do they picked her to lead the line dance around the tables - she beamed from ear to ear!
