Fireworks launch area during Wishes?

Here's a random question for the boards...

How close can one get to the fireworks launch area north of the Magic Kingdom (on Floridian Way, just west of Center Dr) during a Wishes fireworks show?

Floridian Way is a public road yes? I drove behind the Magic Kingdom and past the fireworks launch area one morning after a breakfast at GF... we saw the launch area literally right next to the road.

Do they close this road (or this section of the road) during Wishes? If not... theoretically one could literally drive right past where the fireworks are launching from right? And be just a few yards away right?

Has anyone ever done this?

The road is closed from the Grand Floridian up to the intersection behind MK that leads to DU. During Hallowishes and Holiday Wishes it's also blocked off from the intersection by the Contomporary heading back to DU because of the addition pyros set up on the outskirts of the park.

I drive through the intersection behind MK a little after 10PM every night and when wishes is scheduled at that time it's pretty intense.

so in theory it better to watch Wishes on the back side of the Castle? If you are there just for the fireworks and not the whole castle show.

Fantasyland is my favorite spot to watch from for this very reason. Right around the Dumbo attraction - the fireworks just tower over you since you are closer to the launch site. You do have to play a game of "tennis" so to speak if you want to see the Castle and Fantasyland launches, as they happen behind you, but it's so worth it. Plus it's usually never crowded so you have some breathing room.

If you've seen Wishes from the Hub and are looking for a new perspective, I highly recommend Fantasyland!

Not to mention the lift charges are much more noticeable. That's an important part of the show. :D
