Poly, GF, BC or Dolphin--questions

I need some feedback. We are just now deciding to go to WDW on spring break. The prices are comparable for GF (garden view) and YC/BC (water view), with Poly garden view (only view available on the website $250-$300 cheaper total for our 5 nights.
We are going over Easter. Looks like we are driving this time since I missed all the good fares--I usually book 9-10 months out, not 3!
I've been to WDW several times but I have some questions:
1) we think we will book the quick-service option rather than the disney dining. But, this means we need a decent quick-service (and mug refill) location near our resort. Should we book the GF or Poly option as a result, since the YC/BC lack a decent quick service location (and if you stay at YC it's a hike to get a mug refill)? If we are at Poly or GF, we have Capt. Cooks plus the quick serves at GF and contemporary in a pinch.
2) If we do stay at the Poly, are Fiji and Tahiti still the most popular longhouses? Last time we were there I requested them, but was put in Raratonga--it ended up being OK, but we were facing the courtyard--I can imagine it would stink to face the other way. I know garden view is a huge category there. Maybe if I requested close to the pool it would help?
3) GF garden view--what is the worst thing you can get there? Just asking because that is probably what we would get at this late time and that will factor into my decision.
4) Dolphin--we have 3 kids who will be 11,14 and 17--do they have rollaway beds available? If not, it's off my list because two double beds will not work.
Thanks for all help. Like I said, this isn't our first WDW rodeo, but some of our circumstances (driving, quick service option) are different.

You can get a rollaway at the Dolphin... they have some pretty sweet studio suites as well.

Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, & Aotearoa are my favourite Polynesian longhouses. One side of Aotearoa does, however, face the parking lot.

With two adults and three (pre) teenage children, I'd really suggest a studio suite at the Dolphin, or something in the vacation club category. A standard room with one bathroom is going to be way cramped.

The Poly, I love the Poly, its everything a Disney hotel should be to me...the rooms are quite large too.

I hate the Grand Floridian, I never saw the appeal, it reminds me of the Titanic....its also very white and cold to me, too stuffy....just my opinion tho.

If you're not absolutely commited to the idea of staying at a deluxe hotel, what about booking 2 rooms next to or adjoining each other at a value or moderate hotel. That way you would have 4 double beds and 2 bathrooms. I don't know for sure but the price should be pretty silmilar and you would have better choices for a food court and daily drink fill ups. That's what my parents use to do, it made for a better trip for both us and I'm sure for them, too.

If we want to save the $$, we'll do the Dolphin (I get a teacher discount), but we've never stayed value and I don't think I'm willing to go that far. We have considered POR though, but it says the trundle isn't recommended for kids over 9, and my youngest will be 11 when we go.
As for being in one hotel room, we've done it before, and since we aren't all there at once much it works out OK. My girls share one queen size and my son sleeps on the daybed. We are DVC members but have the minimum points, and really don't have any to use right now unless we borrow--and I want to go down in June of 2011 for our 25th ann. and use those.
I really like the YC area--but not so much for quick serve options. I'm thinking the Poly may be the way to go this time. We've done Poly, YC and Dolphin before, and the Dolphin is the smallest room of them all.

I could be mistaken, but isn't the DDP not an option if you're staying at Swan/Dolphin?

If you stay at YC/BC and have a park hopper, you're really close to the International Gateway and can pick a QS location from the World Showcase, so that's a pro for that location. If you don't have the park hopper it sounds like Poly/GF like you described above (I am not sure what's available there, we normally stay at the BW). Good luck!

I agree in full. The Poly IS the Disney Experience. Location, look, theme, service, everything.

GF...Looks bland.

My vote would be the Poly. Stayed there in May, and loved it. I recommend the Tokelau long house because it is centrally located to the GCH, TTC, the pools, laundry, and bus stops. Tokelau also being one of the newer longhouses, has larger rooms than the older ones plus all rooms have either a balcony or patio. Also try to request one of the garden view rooms closer to the lagoon(x910-x919), they all have water views at garden view prices. Just my opinion.
