Has your trip ever been "Ruined"?

Has your trip to the World ever been ruined by an incident or a series of unfortunate things happening?

Our trip was never really ruined but we had some bad incidents:

Back when we used to stay off property, My sister was about 3 and we were at my grandparents house she was horsing around and ending up going head first through a glass table. she had to get stitches and had a broken thumb. We ended up taking it easy that trip and only went to DTD, MK, and Epcot.

Another trip only about 4 years ago, my sister other was about 6. we decided our first day we were going to go to Epcot. she refused to put sun screen on and she is as white as snow white. she ended up getting a horrible burn on her head and on her back. So bad that the only rides she could go on were rides she didn't have to lean back on(No Coasters or anything along those lines) she hated not going on a lot of rides but she loved meeting almost every character in the park.

We've had some trips that were less enjoyable than others, but I really can't say they were "ruined". A day at WDW is always better than a day in the real world!

Oh no!!! Your poor sister! She seems to be very accident prone!!! I can definitely relate to that!!! :ROFLOL:

As for me, I mentioned this in a previous thread, but what the heck, I'll say it again. I found out my then fiance was cheating on me on our first full day in Disney... Yes you heard that right folks...Cheating on me and I found out in disney!!! Oh well, while I was a we bit upset by the discovery, I didn't really let it get me down too much on the trip, after all, it was all about making sure our son had a magical time. I will say thou, it took me almost 2 years until I had the courage to go back to Disney. I guess I just really didn't want to relive that part of my life. Now, I look at everthing that happened as a blessing and can not imagine not going to Disney every year!!!

Oh my gosh! That would have ruined my whole trip right there! I commend you for staying and enjoying it with your son anyway and I'm glad you finally were able to disassociate WDW with it!

Honestly, I don't thinK I have ever had anything go wrong where it has ruined my trip. My friend and I ran through a storm in Epcot once and a piece of hail the size of a quarter hit me in the eye. We found out the next day a mini tornado had struck behind the park and had turned one of the boats over! Oops! But we still had a blast getting soaked and smacked around by mother nature :ROFLOL:

Yeah, we had a trip ruined once. On day 3 of a 7 day trip, my 4 year old and myself woke in the middle of the night vomiting and "more". We continued for 3 full days, and the day we got better, hubby started. We had to extend our trip, just because we couldn't physically drive home. Luckily, the 6 month old didn't get it (thank god, as he was nursing exclusively, you want to talk about rough while you're sick).
To add insult to injury, my older son had a pediatrician appointment for a regular checkup for the Monday after we were supposed to return, and because we missed the appointment since we didn't get back on time, and couldn't give 24 hour notice because they weren't open on Sunday or Sat. they dropped us as patients! Who wants that kind of dr anyway, lol...

We had a trip that didnt go as planned. It was our first trip as a married couple. We stayed off property and my husband on the 3rd day as well got heat stroke. He was so bad he vomitting every 15 mins. We took him to the ER. They put an IV in him with no fluid and left him alone in the room with no docs coming in or anything for 3 hours! My husband was sick of waiting with no help with this IV that did him no good. He walked out of the ER. We went back to our hotel room. I nursed him - the next day my other older children went to disney. on the last day my husband felt better. Now we only do to disney in cooler months.

In 06 as we were packing our bags to leave..and took them to the area to be boarded...we arrived VERY early that morning...the Magical Express stated that our flight carrier did not have "rights" for the flight back!!!!! What a piece of work....it was not in the fine print...I went to the desk..they were very nice to explain...since the other desk did not...they stored our bags..took care of any paperwork needed..and we did get to ride the bus back to the airport...so it worked out...07..my wife and I got VERY sick..stomach bug...lost a day...DO NOT USE CUPS IN YOUR ROOM! Bring your own..and do not use coffee maker in room...but...with enough meds..we made it back to parks for last full day...I think..somehow...I will always make the parks...from my grave!

Nothing has ever ruined a trip to WDW even though somebody always gets sick or gets hurt (you know how kids are). We are all together in a place we love so just go with the flow....life happens.

While off site one year my sister got shingles all over her back. She was maybe 7. She had to go to doctor office a few times while down there for re-checks and shots.

The trip wasn't ruined, but sure did put a damper on things.

I won't say my whole trip was ruined, but just our last night and morning at Disney was a very sad time. DH and I were on our honeymoon and our last night there, we received a message from my mother so I called her back and she told us that my 6 month old chihuahua ran away from the fenced in yard and was killed by a car.:( Stitch was my baby he was sooo sweet and loving. Gave hugs and kisses all of the time. Had such a great personality. We needless to say were very sad. My mother cried for months after that happened so did my grandmother. Well now I have another chihuahua (Yoda) who looks just like Stitch but he doesn't have the same personality. But I also would not have my golden retriever either. Mandy is soooo goofy, she makes up for Stitch's personality.:)

My trip has never been completely ruined. But it does seem without fail that by the end of every trip I end up with a pretty bad cold or sinus infection. :( It's never been enough to keep me out of the parks though!

I went for my birthday in September last year and had a cold the whole time. I drugged myself up with Dayquil and made the best of it, but on my last day I was so sick I couldn't stand it! I used that as an excuse to book another trip that November!

I went again in March using a discount, and I somehow injured my foot. It was too sore to walk on so I pretty much limped around doing my best. On my last day, I was at the Animal Kingdom and became very lightheaded. I thought maybe it was heat stroke (despite it not being much above 70), and of course my foot was still hurting, so I was completely miserable. I went to the Magic Kingdom to ride Space Mountain since knew it wasn't going to be open on my next trip, and stopped by First Aid where they gave me some Ibuprofen...which I wished I'd known about earlier since my foot didn't hurt anymore... but the lightheadness and dizziness didn't really subside, so I ended up going back to the lobby of the hotel I had checked out of to sit and wait for the ME. It was a miserable experience.

When my son was 3 he developed croup in the middle of the night. It was horrible, at one point it sounded like he stopped breathing. We called an ambulance and went to the emergency room (Disney was amazing with this). After spending the night in the ER and getting a shot of steroids we made it back to the hotel. Within an hour of being back my son ran head on into the night stand, and got an enormous bump. We took him to the medicenter where we had to wait a while to be seen. The dr told me he's fine or he'd be dead already (she's lucky she didn't die right there:fork:). While in the waiting room my son picked up the flu. He got sick the next morning. We spent the entire trip in the hotel room. My husband got sick on the plane on the way home, I got sick the next day.

The good things is that we scheduled our first xmas trip that year to make up for it and we've been going in December every year since.:)

One time we were there on the longest trip ever...9 days...and most of us got very sick for 2-3 days....but I thought of it and still do as a blessing it was that very long trip and we still had fun....vs most of a short trip. It was rather comforting listening to the waterfall outside at the Lodge and easy access to food made me think it was not so bad being sick and being at the world comfy and warm vs being sick at home in the frigid north cooped up in my tiny home. We enjoyed it from a different perspective a few days but much to do...even the simple walk around outside and seeing wildlife was magical....:king:. The kids thought it rather interesting to visit the urgent care....luckily DH took them and he never got ill....which was amazing as the place was PACKED to the gills with sick peeps....they even told DH it was usually never close to being that busy there. :lookaroun

My first trip to Disney was the week of (9-11). It was my first time to fly. We arived on Saturday morning , cant remember what we did during the day but went to the Luau that night and it rained and rained. Next day went to Animal Kingdom and it rained. The next day Magic Kingdom and it rained and I was so tired of trodding through the rain that we went back to our resort. Music I think. Next morning we slept in and woke up around 9:00 a.m. and turned on the T.V. TO DISCOVER EVERYTHING WAS SHUT DOWN BECAUSE OF THE ATTACKS. There was also a hurricane watch being posted for later in the week. Needless to say we had a rental car and we drove home on Wednesday.Looking back I wish we had stayed but at the time it seemed the world was coming to an end. I will never forget my first trip. Disney is great!:goodnevil

In 1999 I went to the world for my 21st Birthday, although I don't really remember much about my Birthday or the trip because I came down with full blown Chicken Pox! Wow did they hurt!

After about a week once the spots had dried up I ventured out of our room and the sudden change in temperature cause me to become really faint! lol. Once in the parks I managed to clear lines really fast and no one wanted to stand too close :lookaroun

On this trip we also went to Universal (boo hiss) and I was so exhausted after being so ill that I fell asleep in the Terminator 3D show!!! If it wasn't for the jolting seat in the show my husband would have had to wake me.

Our holiday wasn't ruined totally but in 2007 my wife and youngest daughter got a stomach bug and ended up in bed for 2 days. On the third day we had tickets to the P&PP and although they both came along their hearts were not in it.

We thought we weren't going to get there in Sept '04 - a hurricane struck as we were about to leave UK, so all flights were cancelled for 3 days. We managed to get on a flight 3.5 days after we should have gone, so our holiday was reduced, but not ruined. We were just glad to get there, and when we saw the mess in Florida we were glad we hadn't been there at the time.
