Victoria and Alberts in at the Grand Floridian. It is a seven course meal and very enjoyable. DH and I have eaten there three times. It is pricey but if you can afford it, it's worth every penny. The atmosphere is great and very romantic.

We went on our honeymoon, and neither the wife nor I thought that much of it. Moreso because of the service which we fealt was sub par for something that pricey. Could have been because we did not want wine service with our meal. Everything was fine until we told them we didnt want the wine.....:ROFLOL:

If you really want a special dining experience, see if you can get the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's. We did this several years ago, and it is a one-of-a-kind event. The chef prepares special meals for each guest, and explains each of them. There is a wine pairing that can go with it (definitely recommended if you like wines). At the end of the meal, each guest gets a customized menu of their dinner offerings.

There were at least 7 different courses, and included some foods that we probably never would have had otherwise. One course included black abalone, another was kobe steak. The desserts were the least impressive, but by that point we were completely overwhelmed.

I think that the Chef's table seats 6-8 people, but they will only seat one family at a time. There were 3 of us for the dinner; our daughter was about 16 at the time. The dress code is the same as for the front of the house.

And for anybody who selects to go to the Chef's Table, the best tip that I can offer is to not fill up on the bread!

I think that you can make reservations 6 months in advance - you will want to get them at the 6-month window as there are only 1 or 2 seatings at the Chef's table each night.

I'm glad you mentioned this... I've wondered what happens if you eat here and do not order wine. My wife and I do not like wine at all and of course would not spend $60 per person on something we don't like.

We have always talked about eating here but now I'm discouraged that the level of service and treatment dropped significantly for you when you did not order wine.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone else have any thoughts or insight?

Thanks!

My husband is not a wine drinker either, and we didn't notice any slack in service at all. Maybe it depends on who your server is. We absolutely were delighted with our experience.

Sorry that your experience was less than could be expected. I have never heard this before about V&A's.

For our visit, the service was beyond incredible. I can only describe the experience by saying that now I feel like I have had a taste of what it is like to be royalty, or perhaps incredibly wealthy, if only for a few hours.

Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Certainly. Would I do it every trip? Probably not, unless I hit the lottery. Will I go again? If my DW ever gets a job! She's been looking for what feels like forever!

I have eaten at Victoria & Albert's three times. It is truly an experience and something you will never forget. I will agree with the other that is a very romantic setting and they usually have someone playing the harp. The food is very good and the portions may seem tiny but it is 7 courses and I found it a very filling meal. The service was always excellent when we went and they were very attentive. My favorite desert would have to be the Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle....it is wonderful!! And last but not least, I love the personalized menu and rose they give to the ladies in the dining party. I will always have them to remind me of the special dinners spent there. It is most certainly worth doing at least once if you can afford it. :)

Victoria and Alberts Good but not for every mood

I have been to Vic and Alberts four times over the years and enjoyed it. I do however have to be in the mood, and I have cancelled not wanting the experience.

Understand its good food in a very suburban style restaurant. It can be very Romantic. The formality of it all may transport you to making yourself feel special and lets face it - thats what it should be about. The harp playing, the staff service, nice.

Now, don't expect food like you would get in top NY , LA or SFO places...its not that although it tries so hard. If you want to relax, feel special, and enjoy a few drinks over a VERY leisurely dinner you should book it hands down. If your going to critique it like a foodie from The New York Times than forget it.
