Picked up the new issue of Jack of Fables today. Great issue and starts off a new story line!

Jimbo, how far along are you now in both the Fables and Jack of Fables comics? And, what do you think of the Jack book?

I'm mid book 2, Jack is "enjoying" the Snow Queen right now. I just finished Sons of Empire today, Good Prince is waiting at the library for me to pick up later this week. The breakdown of how the Snow Queen's plan would fail was pretty sweet. The Adversary smacking around his Son for carving the bug was greatness, but I hope they don't go to the new style for his son. I liked the chiseled chin look better. I hate it when new artists try to redo previously established characters to suit their style.

The worst offense ever was Ultimate Spiderman when they changed artists for the Death of a Goblin. It made the series much less fun to read. I miss Mary Jane's big loving but sad eyes. She breaks my heart every time I see them. Same with Pete. The entire style was just kinda thrown out the window. I really hate Sensational Spiderman's style too. It looks like it's trying to hard.

One Year Later Superman and Batman are bothering me a bit now two. They shaved off about 15-20 years from each of them. Looks more like "The Batman" Clark and Bruce now.

Oh, and as far as the Jack Book, I really like seeing something totally different and introducing a new baddie. Now the FABLES are fighting a 2 front war. I've read there is another new series in the works as well. Peter Piper and Pied Piper team up, Cindy Series, and more specials are on the way outside the 2 established series.

I'll let you know more on my Jack feelings later, but I love seeing the guy fall flat on his face! Whatta punk.

I can't believe I missed this thread.

I was into comics when I was much younger, and drifted out of it... I was mostly into Marvel stuff, never really cared for anything else. However, in the past year, I've found myself liking comics more and more, and getting into print stuff from Vertigo and too many digital comics to mention.

It's funny too, since I've started working in graphics once more, I've started illustrating with a local Marvel artist on some side projects, mostly cynical satire of current events. Maybe my name will pop up soon

What Vertigo books are you reading?

As a reminder to all you USA residents, due to the Labor Day Holiday, comics are coming out Thursday this week!

Just picked up Blue Beetle III TPB today. Can't wait to buzz through it.

It's a totally sweet series post Infinate Crisis. Love the guy being dumped smack in the middle of the DC universe. And he's just some dude. Also love that Guy HATES him. For the longest time I hated Guy myself. Sinestro Corps flipped me and he may be one of my top 5 characters in DC.

I just finished Bad Prince TPB and I don't know if I like where Fables is headed. It's really freakin' interesting, but it makes the whole universe seem much more pointless. Revise and co. have left me very conflicted.

I also understand what they are trying to do with Babe the Blue Ox, but it isn't working for me. It really isn't working by the 4th full page devoted to it.

I always saw Guy Gardner much like Bill Paxton's space Marine character in Aliens. He's sort of this arrogant, obnoxious older brother who will pick on you, but the guy will have your back in a tough call. I hated him for years until the current writer took on Green Lantern, and now I love him.

I think it all depends on the writer, you know?

But I've reflected and really appreciate the punk that pushed around Hal and Kyle and putting in the competition to better themselves as GLs as well. Or at least I tell myself that was his motivation. Maybe he just was a prick. But I decided to forgive all my past hate. He's now AWESOME. BB III was really good. Loved the part w/Bruce. Tim had good chemistry with Jamie as well. Lobo's resolution was great as well. I vote that every version of Giganta should look as hot as the one from JLU though.

Quoted for truth. That is great!

Next few issues of GL should deal with the Red Lanterns. Can't wait to see what they are all about!

World War Hulk was a real let down compared to Planet Hulk. I just finished what I think are my last 2 in the set and it really missed the mark on many levels. The worst was the "reconstruction contract" storyline. House of M Hulk was AWESOME though. WWH was not as bad as the post-52 "Four Horsemen." That really sucked.

I'm on my second TPB of Countdown. MUCH BETTER than the first. The Trickster and Piper remind me of Tag and Bink from Star Wars Comics. Still doesn't come close to the greatness of 52 though.

Regretably i've been selling issues of my comics and a couple of graphic novels to save up for my Disney trip.

However I will never part with my Batman stuff.

Been there my friend, been there. Just did it a few weeks ago, sold a bunch of trades. But, like you said about your Batman stuff, there are some comics and trades I just won't sell.

Yeah, the Yellow Lanterns are going to see some serious stuff when the Red Lanterns appear.

Is the current GL run any good? The last I read was GL: Rebirth (again, one of my few that I wouldn't sell).

Oh man, yes, it is awesome! Geoff Johns is doing things with GL that is making it one of the best comics out there. Rebirth was only the beginning, each issue has gotten better and better, and the whole Sinestro Corp War was just awesome. The book is well worth reading, if not as a monthly then as a trade. I read it monthly and plan to buy the trades actually.

GL Corps book is good, but a bit hit or miss. The new writer Peter Tomasi though has been doing some great stuff with it. It is a nice companion piece to GL though.

But yeah, GL is awesome. I highly recommend it.

Problem is I haven't read Infinite Crisis. The last one I read was Identity Crisis.
Infinite Crisis picks up almost right after Crisis on Infinite Earths for Superboy Prime, Alexander Luthor, and old fart Superman and Lois. Things are no longer paradise. Joker gets the best in the end. But it is necessary reading, at least a summery before attacking Sinestro Corps. Lanterns and Guardians are deep in things.
