Boat Rentals and DD fireworks

I am hoping someone can help me with boat rental information!

I am looking at a renting a boat at Port Orleans and taking it to Downtown Disney. Can anyone confirm for me that is possible? (Round trip...returning it back at the Port Orleans resort). If so, how long does it take to get to DD.

Also..can anyone tell me if they still do the nightly fireworks at Downtown Disney? If so, what time and can they be seen from the water.

You guessed it...I am trying to do my own fireworks cruise without the expense or the time it takes to get over to the MK or BC.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Also, something to note.

I don't know if ALL boat rental resorts are like this, but just last month, the FW marina only had 8AM to 6PM hours.

It really bummed me out, as I wanted to rent Sea Raycers around 6pm and was told that I couldn't as they close at 6PM.

I would think they would keep open till dusk....even have a "till dusk" special or something. After the T-Storms, it cools off nice and would be a good time for a boat ride.

Good Luck,

Sorry about the rant.

However- there used to be a free boat ride to DTD from POR and POFQ. It ran after 4:00pm every half hour. Not sure if it still exists- haven't stayed there recently. It ran until late at night.

This boat still runs. I believe the last one will leave DTD at 11 PM.

I believe 6pm is the closing time for all Disney Resort Marinas. They use most of the pontoon boats that are at the MK or Epcot water access resorts for the fireworks cruises.
