TPI: King of the Theme Park Graveyard: Semifinals

Today is the semi-finals for Theme Park Insider's "King of the Theme Park Graveyard" tournament. It's Universal's Back to the Future against Kongfrontation, and Disney's ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter versus Horizons. These are heated and controversial battles, and I suggest anyone who votes, vote not just for Disney, but for your own most missed attraction.

For me it would definately be Back to the Future over Kong & Horizons over Alien encounter.

As much as I'm a fan of Horizons, it was old and needed to be updated. I wish they updated it with a newer Horizons, but 'oh well'. I'm gonna have to say Alien Encounter wins this one, simply because it was still in it's prime.

Kong over back to the future (because Kong made me cry cuz I was like 4 years old at the time... and horrified by it... so... that makes me wanna vote for it I guess...)

Yes that's what I picked, but I think Horizons should win because though I don't really remember it very well, it was an amazing attraction in the true theme of Epcot. I rode BttF a few months before it closed, and I thought it was pretty cool, but dated and slightly painful. BttF deserves to be remembered, but Horizons deserves to win.

Plus, if you could bring an attraction back from the dead (at this moment), you would bring back Horizons, not such a recently closed attraction.

Back to the Future - The Ride wins for the Universal Studios extinct attraction.

As for the Walt Disney World, hmm that is very hard, I do truely miss Horizons, it is one of my fondest attractions, Alien Encounter wins though as if it was installed exactly how it was back then it would still be a great attraction where as Horizons in its state from when it was around would feel very dated.

I would bring Back Æ. As fyn said, it was still in its prime while the other three were getting dated.

And since The Simpsons is a lot like Bttf in some respects, I can reminisce while riding it.

RIP Back to the Future: The Ride.

Kong? Seriously? That ride was like three hours of wait for 2 minutes of meh. The subway theming was well done but after the 2,457th time you saw the "news report" stuff while waiting, you were ready to destroy a city too.

And while I definitely preferred AE to Stitch, I'd still have to say I miss Horizons significantly more.

wait they got rid of the king kong ride??? as you can tell i havent been to universal in many many years. all i know is last time i was there my parents made me go on that ride and i cried. well news to me i guess.

Yer, Kong has now been replaced with The Mummy (it's a rollercoaster).

Kongfrontation. The best dark ride out there for a long time.(and still my personal favorite) I miss Back to the Future and Horizone too...and Alien Encounter a lot because it was so original....

its all tough, but definately Kong for the Universal end. So much detail, and I can't say that many other attractions got a send off with over 10,000 annual passholders showing up to raise bananas in the air before their last ride.

Kong, just loved it. But it might be the hole nostalgia thing. Back to the Future was great but I still miss Kong.

And Horizons over just about everything . Would just love to go on that one more time.

I guess I'm a bit of a poser for voting, since I had never been on any of the 4 attractions...but I voted for Horizons over AE (I really, really hate Stitch, haha) and Kong over BttF (Gotta give some love to a fellow spieling attraction )
