Shipping purchased items home.

I've got a question and hope someone can help me. Since the airlines are now charging for a second checked bag, we were wondering how much of a hassel it would be to have the stuff we buy shipped to our home. Can you do this at your resort. Can you wait til the end of your stay and send everything at once? I was just wondering if this would be cheaper than paying for the extra luggage. Thanks in advance for your help.

I used that service once when I bought a big castle play set and it got to my house (in NY) before we even got home from vacation! I was very happy with the service! I think the shipping was only $10, but you don't pay tax if it will ship out of state (which pretty much made up for the shipping cost) and I got a discount for using my Disney Visa Card (only certain locations give Disney Visa discounts though...I think World of Disney in marketplace is one and you can probably get most everything you could want there!).
Not sure if you can wait and combine purchases, but I really don't see why not - I'm sure you could arrange it all to ship from your hotel before you leave.

I haven't sent bulk items as you are describing, but I have sent some things as they were purchased, items I did not want broken. For example, when we were shopping in WOD, we had a few things shipped...snowblobes, frames. We did the same in Epcot. It wasn't an exuberent cost, either. It seemed like the norm for shipping rates.

I am sure someone can let you know about shipping bulk itmes, but depending on how much you purchase, it may save you money if you choose the $25 for the second bag.

We ship every time we go down to DisneyWorld. My wife and I do a mass purchase at the World of Disney usually toward the end of the stay. We try to go over first and check out everything. Then when we are in the parks, we only try to get things that WOD doesn't carry.

It works like a charm. Less hassle and no worries. If something breaks, you get it replaced. If something breaks that you carry home, tough luck.

I've heard of some place on site that does shipping, but don't know anything about it. You can always go off site to the post office to ship.

We were just in Disneyland and there was a sign by the snowglobes that said they can no longer be packed in your carry on luggage.

But I'll tell you, shipping the "stuff" home is well worth it. Your back with thank you.

Im sure you're talking about snowglobes & more fragile items, but I bought a spinner keychain for about $7 in January. Less than a week after I got home, the middle spinner part broke & fell out. I emailed WDW merchandising, explained the situation to them & they sent me a new one, no questions asked. It arrived about a week after I emailed them. I dont know if they normally do that or if the CM who responded to my email was being extra nice because it was something small that had broken.

I would wait until your last day to shop, and purchase as many things at one location (i.e., DTD) as you can. That said, you CAN purchase items at several diffeent Disney stores and then have them shipped all at once when you make your last purchase. It is, however, a hassle for the Cast Member who has to assemble all of the paperwork, so it would be best to not choose a busy location for that last stop!
