Taxi or Charter from Disney to Universal?

Any recent visitors know how much the Taxi Ride from Disney to Universal, and from Universal to MCO cost? I'm trying to figure out if its cheaper to take a taxi compared to chartering(sp) a van! Thanks in advance

If you're going from Disney to Universal, just call Mears...

Mears is a company that makes stops to all outside Orlando attractions. Basically you call them 24 hours in advance and let them know what hotel you're at and where you would like to go. The next day they pick you up at the lobby and the bus actually goes to all the hotels that requested trips elsewhere. People will get off at Discovery Cove or SeaWorld...

None the less, it costs between $16-$20 round trip. At the end of the day, Mears picks you up from where you were dropped off. I can say nothing bad about this service! It was fantastic!

I'm not sure about going to MCO tho...hope i've helped!

We got a taxi from AKL to Universal and, if memory serves, it was about $35

Disney Hotels to Universal by Mears shuttle(van/bus) is $16 RT per person. It's the best deal. Although there is a local bus for $3.50 you have to make connections and there will be wait times. A Mears Shuttle from Universal to MCO is around $20 per person one way.

i used mears 4 times from our hotel to sea world and universal without any problems and will use next time.

if you take Mears is there a set pick up time to go back to your hotels at the end of the day

Does Mears do one way for less? I need transportation to Universal from the Airport, then a few days later I need transportation to Disneyworld From Universal!

I wish Universal had something like magical express!

Don't know current prices, but in Oct. '06 we scheduled with Mears from Poly to Universal (and back). Our ride was late - the van had to pick up others on the way to us - and in the mean time we had checked with one of the Mears owned (but seperately operated?) taxis that were sitting there waiting, their prices were basically the same... and they were just sitting there waiting...

We went ahead and waited for our shuttle - so as not to be rude - but later we decided to head back early from Universal (man HHN runs late when you've been therer since park open!) and cabbed it back... can't remember for sure, but I think I called to cancel out shuttle for later.

Couple days later we went back to Universal and didn't bother with a shuttle. We hopped in a waiting cab, paid basically the same, and got there much quicker...

Bottom line (for us a least) cabs were the same cost, more flexible, and got us there quicker (no waiting).
