Does Spaceship Earth have a more inspiring message with the current version or the Jeremy Irons previous version?

Here's an interesting thought: neither. As in better or worse.

I went on it this last trip, and through some faulty button presses by my grandmother ended up missing Dench's narration and instead hearing the spanish version. They did a pretty good job at translating though.

But anyways a thought ocurred to me on our time travel journey that was brought on to the fact that I was trying NOT to pay attention to the audio: the story is the SAME.

They could get Fran Drescher to narrate it, going "How 'bout those Phoenicians? *cackle laugh*", and it would still be inspiring.

That ride is sort of what it's like when you spend hours and hours on some sort of personal project or art piece, be it a garden or a drawing or just some work on your house, and then you stand back and go "Hmph, did a pretty good job" and pat yourself on the back.

It condences so many years of human culture and achievements into this little... ball. It makes you proud of living this day and age.

I love Jeremy Irons. I love Judy Dench. Think of it as a Bond movie: new era, new Bond. Connery was awesome. That doesn't mean Moore is terrible (Moonraker...c'mon). Hell if you ask me Dalton did a good job, but I've seen The Rocketeer one too many times.

Everybody needs to chill. New SSE is as great a ride as the original. It could use some futuristic displays towards the end, thats all. But I think people tend to forget that those little window things weren't all that elaborate to begin with. I had a blast with the cartoon. It might be on par with a flash cartoon, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun to see me and my grandma tending to plants in a future-house.

I will agree with ONE thing: that matrix tunnel...BAGH... take that out! It's just...so identical to matrix code it's sort of confusing and terrifying to see. I half expected for the narration to suddenly de-volve into an explanation of destiny and what our purpose was.

Oh P.S.

I sort of resent that wording. "I have no opinion"? C'mon...

I definitely think it's less inspiring now. I loved Jeremy Irons narration because it was dynamic and intelligent, unlike Dame Judi Dench's. His narration evoked a strong feeling that made you proud of human accomplishments and inspired you to dream of the future. Isn't that what Disney (or at least Epcot) is about?

Overall, I find the Judi Dench version to be less inspring than the 1994 version. I found the original Vic Perrin version to be the least inspiring, and Judi Dench and Walter are a near tie for me for pretty inspiring and Jeremy Irons gets the prize for most inspiring.

IMHO the Judi Dench version isn't that bad, I have been a supporter of the new area music score, landscaping, lighting, painting, new signs, etc. I also enjoyed project tomorrow and found it very appropriate.

The touch screens are great for selecting a language and finding where you live, but the video at the end is really a temporary pop culture fad. Luckily the touch interace or purpose can change whenever needed.

I just find that a ride that started out with Judi Dench as our personal guide taking us through time through eleborate sets, dramatically to blue triangles and chicken wire and watching ourself or "earth yourself" as we dance around in a retro cartoon.

The musical score, while not as memorable as the 1994 score is still nice, especially since they have jacked up the volume and toned down the sound of judi's narration.

The matrix tunnel is meh, ok, 180top isn't much different than it was in 1994 except for some slight TLC treatment it got, the space station is still there, now covered with this groovy blue worm hole, and though the 1994 version was bland and not nearly as comprehensive as the 1986 tomorrow's child ending, the imagineers still could have has those video screens on and something around us such as numerous twinkling stars, or fiber optics swirls as we travel through the descent through time and space and back to the present day.

From watching videos, the new version seems to suffer from one single major, glaring flaw: The music.

1994's soundtrack was one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring pieces of orchestral music I've ever heard... and to think, it was written for a theme-park ride! The new score is bland and lifeless. Just give me back 1994's score and I'll be content. It's a good thing I'll be bringing my iPod this visit. ;)

Where do I start....
Love how they refurbished some of the scenes, they look amazing.

What I thought of being the most inspiring scene was the "Theatre was Born" as we enter greek. this schene is no more and instead they speak about Greek Mathmaticians and philosophers. true it's important. but that part always made me feel inspired... The last actual scene you see with people is a dirty old mans garage... that's inspiration there. and I hate to say this.. bUt I'm sorry, they should not sacrifice historical Accuracy for Political COrrectness. THey have an african woman dressed in steriotypical 70s clothing running a room of computers which looks nothing like a computer of that time. being that it was all treated as a science, and sorry, but at that time. 20yr old African WOmen did not work on computers.......

THe SOundtrack makes me cry because I miss the old one. and the Voice over, though I love love love Dame Judy Dench, Her voice is to aristocratic to be used as a narration.. and it in fact bores you.

WHat was onece my Favorite atraction, has gone the way of Journey into your imagination. and it hurts me because i was so excited, I'm only happy to say that I enjoyed the atraction pre refurb for my college program. and was able to ride it for 5 months.

Journey Into Your Imagination was the ill-conceived rehash of the original Journey Into Imagination, that axed both Dreamfinder and Figment, and gave you Nigel Channing. I sure hope that's a typo... I sure hope that isn't what you meant. :lookaroun

I think the previous is more inspiring, but that's not to say that the current one isn't at all. Spaceship Earth will always be inspiring to me. I just think when I was younger, and during the first few times I went on the attraction, than naturally it would be more inspiring.

Why not both.
Because inspiration is even more subjective than entertainment.

This talk of inspiration is silly. What exactly has the various versions of SSE inspired anyone to actually do? I'd like some substainal examples.

Inspiration without action is just a warm fuzzy feeling...
