Use of tickets from the 80's??

I have a friend who is going back down next week to the parks and discovered some old tickets from the early 80's. (They been back several times since then but she had put them up and forgotten about them.) They were told then that the tickets would not expire and they could use the remaining days whenever they wanted.

She asked me about them and I told her that provided there were indeed some days left on them, she would probably be allowed to use them. She said it's not a big deal if they deny them, but have any of you used tickets that were that old and not had a problem?

Yes I have. We had some unused tickets from 1986 that we turned in on trip in 2005 and they were converted to non-expiring park hoppers for the number of days left (in our case, it was three days left on a passport).

You can still use those old tickets but they will need to take them to guest services and exchange them for current ticket media before they can be used.

Yep. Last summer I used a pass my parents won during the 15th anniversary. Like Yoda said, they will need to be taken to guest services, but after that you're good to go.

We used old tickets that were bought before Studios opened. When we converted them to the new media, they were only good for the parks that were open when you bought your ticket. You can hop. You may want to keep that in mind, too.

My family's first trip to WDW was in July 1973. In our vacation scrapbook we have the ticket book. Wonder if they'd take those? I'd have to tear them out of their little booklet! Only kidding! I'd never part with them. One of my favorite days as a 7 year old. We went for one day while visiting our cousins in Tampa. I got a Donald Duck hat with a squeaky beak!

Tickets purchased before 1989 are only good at MK and Epcot. Tickets purchased before 1998 are only good at MK, Epcot and DHS. I haven't done the whole use-old-tickets thing, so I can't say what exactly Guest Services will do, but just keep in mind that you may only be able to use your old tickets at 2 or 3 parks (or 1 if they are *really* old tickets ;)

Actually, I'm not sure that's the case. It is now (any tickets purchased since the opening of DAK are only good for the current four parks). However, I do believe that any unused old tickets can be converted into tickets that are good for all of the four parks. Guest Relations has the final say, though.

I do know that park hopper tickets purchased prior to the opening of Animal Kingdom will be honored. Our nieghbor went with us a couple of months ago with tickets that were about 10 years old. When she tried to enter, the ticket would not scan the CM looked at the ticket and sent her to customer relations where they gave her an updated ticket for the remaining days of her ticket that would now included AK. She stilll has remaining days on an other ticket that she still has.

Hi,
what about Universal tickets?
We got two return tix in 1990 because of the technical problems.
There is no expiring advice on the tickets.

That's interesting. I bet if I did some cleaning, I could find some old tix from the 80's...

is there a way of finding out what is left on old tickets?
we have tickets from quite a few years ago that state that they never expire, but i am sure there is only water parks left on it. is there anyway of finding out. As i live in the UK i don't want to pass up some of the great offers before i leave and then get there for them to say that i only have 1 water park visit left and nothing else.

Unfortunately, the only way to verify how many days are left on a ticket is in-person at a Guest Relations location.
