When that rename happen? For well, ever, it was the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Playset Adventure. Now the reference to the movie have been seemingly stripped.. not that they weren't long overdue.. but.. it's just odd to suddenly notice when looking at a DHS map.

I actually had a moment when i half expected it to be some other movie set playground. Go fig.

*shrug*

Guess Disney is finally admitting the Honey I Shrunk/Blew Up/Disemboweled/Teleported/Fluxed the relatives franchise is over.

Interesting. The obvious next step will be to get rid of it all together, which I suspect will happen as soon as they figure out what, if anything, to do with that space. What's the point of changing it to that new name when it's pretty obvious that it's meant to represent the back yard in Honey I Shrunk the Kids?

This is one of the few kids play areas I think Disney should keep. It's well done, the background music is wonderful, kids seem to really enjoy it (as do many adults...including myself), and unlike junk like Pooh's Playful Spot, there's a ton of creativity in it. I think they should keep the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" reference, as it is a Disney movie, and while it may not be a "classic," I have fond memories of it. Whether or not it is a popular movie or a well-known movie is, quite frankly, irrelevant. The obvious argument to the silly statement, "You can't make attraction based on a movie if the movie isn't popular" is Splash Mountain. Most kids today have never had the opportunity to see "Song of the South" (many adults have not, either)...but it DOES NOT MATTER. It's still an enjoyable experience. Similarly, all you really need to know about HISTK Playground is right in its name - you're one of the kids and you've been shrunk.
Leave it alone. There are plenty of other things in Disney's Hollywood Studios needing attention before this small, classy playland.

I was just there a week or two ago, and I vividly remember that Honey, I Shrunk the Kids billboard still on the side of that soundstage next to the Movie Set Adventure. It also still says Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure on the most recent guidemap.

They should just retheme it to A Bugs Life, I know more Pixar again but its kinda in the Pixar area or somewhat close to it.

That is the most logical thing to do. It would require very little change, and would keep an area of the park open and entertaining at least SOME of the guests. As we all know, DHS needs as much stuff open and running as possible right now.

I remember at one point they had Flik doing meet and greets outside of that play area, I guess trying to gauge interest in the character and movie. Trouble is, Bug's Life never really caught on like the other movies. But it is more well-known now than the Honey, I Shrunk... franchise.

I know!! I know!!

A nice wall-e play area... I think they could compose everything of the "junk" cubes to make little tunnels, and maybe some of the junk is still functional like in the movie... maybe an ipod is trapped in the rubble attached to speakers, and when it's activated, it plays some sweet space rock (or some Sonny Eclipse jams)... Maybe there are other items trapped (discarded Buzz Light Year toys) and other pixar junk...

I think that has some potential...

Arm-chair imagineering at it's finest! (Disney if your looking to recruit me, I can be there bright and early monday morning! ... on my own dime... please??!!)

Yeah, I never got why A Bug's Life wasn't really popular. I think it was and remains one of Pixar's best. It did make almost $200 million at the box office, which is really good, but comparing it to Nemo and Monsters Inc., it isn't as impressive.

As long as it doesn't smell like trash. ;)

The Times Guide and Map for this week still say "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure"

Do you have a photo of the one you saw? Wonder if there are two different batches of maps and guides.

Aw, I have good memories of jumping around in the leaky garden hose when I was little. :( Although it may be time to change it. I don't know, maybe theme it to a jumble of movie sets made into a playground or somthing.

Sorry....wrong. It's ALWAYS been the Honey I shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. I have multiple old books that say so, plus I'm VERY sure it was never called the "Honey I shrunk the Kids Movie Playset Adventure", because that makes no sense.
