Touring Plans 6 or 7 rating - How bad?

We are making plans to go when Touringplans.com says the crowd level should be a 6 or 7 on several days and a 5 on the last day. How busy is a 6 or 7 crowd day? I know what the web site says, but has anyone remember going on days where they had rated the crowds 6 or 7 and remember how bad it actually was? I have been in the past on 4 or 5 rated days and it was great. Are we going to be miserable in comparison?

There are people that let crowds both them and there are people that have fun on vacation. Personally, I am the latter but there are plenty of people who let any little thing "ruin" their trip.

If there are more crowds just take time to relax for a while. Don't push through crowds to beat people to the fastpass lines...its just not worth it. Not only does that type of behavior eventually cause you to get stressed, it makes other people(the people you are rushing past) angry too.

As for your question, I believe a 6 or 7 isn't that bad. I really wouldn't worry about it. I might call it a typical disney world crowd.

But, like I said, I can't tell you if it will ruin your vacation. That is up for you to decide. You can let a crowd ruin it...or you can have fun.

Hey Gravydeen,

Thanks for using the site. The calendar's average for the entire year is around 6.5, so the range you mention is roughly average for WDW. It won't be anywhere near the crowds you see during holidays or late June and July summer breaks.

You're likely to see the headliner and bottleneck attractions (e.g., Space, Splash, BT Mountain, Dumbo) have their wait times rise to the levels shown by 1 pm, but the secondary attractions (Pirates, Jungle Cruise, etc.) will have relatively low waits. Presidents, Tiki Room, and the Riverboat will be walk-on, as usual. If you use a touring plan, the differences in these days versus 4-5 will be even less apparent.

Let me know if this isn't clear. Thanks again!

Usually a 6 or 7 means that the park will be light until about noon, and then pretty crowded by two. If you follow the touring plans for the first 3 hours, you can knock out the biggies, because they will all be sporting huge waits by early afternoon. Then even if it's crowded, you can see the rest pretty easily. Usually we end up visiting on days that are rated 6,7, or 8, so I understand your concern. They also offer advice on which park to visit. I have found that information to be pretty accurate. Enjoy the trip! I wish I was there.

Over MLK weekend I believe we experienced what would be levels 6-7 at MK, DHS, and AK. If you get to each park at opening, ride the more popular rides first and use Fast Passes you should get to do those rides without much wait. You can take in the less popular things later.

Don't even imagine that Park Hopping to do rides at the second park will work. By the time you get there the waits will be huge and Fast Passes most likely be all gone. We tried that with hopping from DHS to AK and got to do nothing at AK. Besides that AK closes earlier than other parks. From now on I would only park hop to see a show or dinner at Epcot, but not to ride.

But if you schedule one park per day and get there at opening you should do fine.
