Most Romantic Resort?

Hello everyone! New here! I'm getting married and we're looking into resorts. I've also stayed off of the WDW Resort my past visits, so staying at an actual WDW Resort is new to me and I'm very excited!

My question is, what's the most romantic resort for a honeymoon? Judging by the pictures, none of the rooms seem that great...but rather the actual hotels. I'm sure the rooms are much different in person, but the comforters and decor appear to be tacky. Is it just the pictures? Also, I'd love to have a room where we can look out our window and have a great view...such as fireworks and a sunset. Also, a place that has a pool where the water isn't ice cold.

We are considering a deluxe resort, but also want suggestions for their "moderate" resorts too. We're buying a house, so the more money we save the better!

And off-topic...can anyone suggest a nice beach nearby (within an hour...at most 2) for getting married? I looked into getting married at Disney but the cost is so high! We are looking for something under $1000 that allows us to take our own photographs and allows us to have about 20-30 guests. We don't need any fancy decorations...just us, the beach, and our guests is fine by us!

We are looking into going next March or April...what's the weather like then? Will it be swimming weather? Or should we wait and go in May?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your help! :D ...Sorry for sooo many questions!

For the view you would like, I would say The Contemporary. It is one of the deluxe resorts, but it will certainly offer a sunset view. Also, the Polynesian is a very romantic looking resort and it has a beach right there on the lake.

As for a moderate suggestion, Port Orleans. Either the French Quarter or Riverside would be great choices. They are both very romantic and fall in that middle price range.

Concerning the beach question, Daytona and Cocoa are close, but not sure how much. Certainly Google wedding packages with the names of those beaches.

Hope your wedding and honeymoon go FABULOUSLY! Feel free to post more questions and WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!:sohappy:

Wow, the Contemporary is PERFECT!! Modern is definitely my style! I totally missed that one when looking. I guess I was judging too much on the outside of the hotels. I guess the saying is true, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Thank you!

Even if we decide to go deluxe, we may decide to make a switch halfway through our trip, and the value resorts look too crowded for me. So we are definitely still going to be looking into the moderate hotels too.

Modern is my style as well. I really want to stay in the Contemporary some day. Maybe my honeymoon...LOL!

Switching halfway through a trip is common, and though they do not have a modern looking moderate, the two I suggested are so cozy and romantic that the French charm may just win you over.

I'd take a close look at the Beach Club / Boardwalk area. Beautiful views of the lake, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, clubs, restaurants, etc. There is so much to do within walking distance from your (Honeymooners ;)) room.

Most romantic has got to be any All Star....just kidding.

My vote goes to the Polynesian for a deluxe. Although I am going to Wilderness Lodge in a couple weeks, that looks romantic as well.

The Poly is our favorite resort and IMHO the most romantic. Two can snuggle in a hammock on the beach and watch the fireworks over the castle. The resort is quieter than the Contemporary (our 2nd fav). Check out tikiman's website to see some great pics of the Poly.

For "romance" I would pick the POLY over the CONTEMP. but, if you like modern guess CONTEMP is the way to go. just get MK view room. consider POR or FQ though, too. they have a romantic carriage ride there at nite. be sure and get the bride and groom mouse ears. Also, the congrats. buttons at the guest services at first resort you go to. how about a romantic dinner at the Calif. grill? have a magical trip wherever you go.........welcome to the boards.

Hi there,

I actually stayed at WDW in November, got married while I was there at the Poly and we stayed and had our honeymoon at AKL. It was fantastic, we paid for a savannah view and there was nothing more romantic than waking up looking outside to the sun rising and a girafe just outside your balcony!

I am unsure about getting married on a public beach but I think some of the beach hotels may offer wedding options that will likely be cheaper than WDW. That said I would highly recommend getting married at WDW you will never forget it and at the end of the day you only want to get married once. :sohappy:

For me contemporary is a great modern hotel but unsure if I would call it Romantic. Wilderness lodge was one I was seriously considering but we went for AKL in the end.

For weather I would say April - May would be nicer, I always do WDW end of April early May and have always had lovely weather, just beware of the love bug infestation in April. Swwiming is not a problem in April, unsure about March!

Good luck with your choices im sure wherever you choose to get married or stay it will be a wonderful experience. :)

Thanks everyone! You've been so helpful! I got a Vacation Planning DVD in the mail and I looked at the contemporary rooms and they are much different than the pictures I've seen online...did they just remodel or are the rooms decorated differently?

I did look at the rest of the hotel and it isn't romantic, so we'll have to decide if we want a more romantic resort or a more romantic room. I don't know how much time we'll spend at the resort, or how many days we'll be there. I'm hoping to do a week, but I'm also debating on going for a few days, then traveling south to visit a nice beach for the remainder of our trip.

I also thought about an off site resort, but I'd hate to lose all the Disney perks and feel. I think that's worth the extra money. And besides, would there be a huge difference in price for a deluxe resort off site? Do any of them offer a shuttle to and from the resorts? We don't want to rent a car unless we have to, and if we're even able to. Can 24 year olds rent?

I absolutely love the Contemporary resort, but I don't think it's very romantic. The Poly or Beach Club would probably be better, and definitely POR if you're looking into Moderate resorts.

Congratulations and good luck with all your planning =)

Another vote over here for the Poly. We did a split stay on our honeymoon with our first week at the Poly and then the last few days in the mansion section of Port Orelans Riverside.

One of my best memories from all our trips to the World are of us laying on the hammocks on the beach of the Polynesian watching the fireworks over the castle. The atmosphere of the Poly makes up for what might not be so "romantic" about their rooms.

And May is the perfect time. I agree with the other poster about making the mistake of going during the nightmare time of spring break. Have a great time and good luck with the wedding!

I think the options you are considering are all great -- it comes down to what you like. I like both Contemporary and Poly, but Wilderness Lodge is our favorite and is more cost effective. For current pictures, I recommend you check www.allearsnet.com this is a great site for photos and reviews. The beach at Poly is nice, but you can also stop there some evening after dinner --- I recommmend a dinner at California Grille (a definite must) at the Contemporary, then take Monorail to Poly, have an after dinner drink there, and romantic walk by beach. The beach losing something for me, since you cannot actually use the water. But is nice to walk or relax at.

I recommend the Dining Plan, and here are some of our favorite restaurants (Pre-kids)...that I think you should consider for nice dinners in addition to California Cafe --- Citricios (GF); Artist Point (WL); Jiko (AKL); Yachtsman Steakhouse (YC).....

For entertain, not sure of your humor liking, but we always loved going to the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island.

Regarding the beach wedding, I agree with the earlier comment that the Gulf Beaches are beautiful especially the Don Cesare (but might be pricey)...you can also check with Disney and do a combo trip to Disney's Vero Beach Resort for the first few days -- then to WDW. Just a thought....

I think that "romance" can be wherever it is created. It is (to me) about making memories with someone, not the structure surrounding you. That being said, I love the Poly but I have fun at All Star Sports as well. For a more grown up feel (if that is possible at WDW) I like the serentity of the cabins at FW. To each his own.

WILDERNESS LODGE! When we were booking our honeymoon this was the place we thought would be the most romantic and we were right! There are lots of nooks and crannies for privacy. A large fireplace with ricking chairs in the lobby. We even thought the pool was a bit romantic especially near the water fall.

Ill have to agree with the "romance is where you make it" responce. Romance is made because of the one your with, not necaessarily where your at. The parks are the romantic part of the trip for me.....tomarroe land at night, the castle all lit up, the fireworks, or just walking through the countires at Epcot right at opening when its still all quiet and not crowded. I know the question was which reosrt, but to me its the parks more han the resorts that bring the romance.
