I recall hearing about this in a forum post quite a ways back. If I remember correctly it's in a park in france. To get into it you go on an escalator to get to it's main attraction...a roller coaster pretty much like space mountian.

Isn't this from one of the chinese ripoff parks?

You're right that there is a Spaceship Earth ripoff at the Shijingshan Amusement Park (that's probably roughly the same size as the one in this picture), but as far as I can tell this isn't it. I have no clue where this one is.

ETA: ^ Ah, I see...

Not only do they have a ride like Space Mountain in a Spaceship Earth-esque building, but they also have a ride called Universe of Energy.

Boy, I bet the FDA would have a field day with this attraction if it were in the States. The green lasers shining into the eyes of the guests!

Yeah its europa park. Basically a clone of disney world but it is a great park. Top it off the spaceship earth ie-eurosat is a wonderful rollercoaster. Loved going there every year back when we lived in germany. Also the park is more of a show case for a big theme park maker.

So why would the Food and Drug Administration care about green lasers being shined in peoples eyes?

Without getting too political, you know that the government has to have their hand into everybody's business.

Anyway the FDA is the governmental agency that oversees all use of lasing products. It came about, probably, when grocery stores starting using the UPC system.

Anyway, they have a guidebook a mile high regarding the use of lasers in the entertainment business, that's practically enough to discourage all but the most hardy with their rules concerning placement, height requirements, clearance requirements, user logbooks, calibration requirements, ad nauseum...

In other words... shining a laser in someone's eyes is a no-no!
