Southwest or Jetblue???

Hi, does anyone from the New England area know when Southwest and Jetblue post their flights for April 2008? Right now they both only book until January 11th. I'm looking to depart from either Boston (Logan) or TF Green in Providence RI. Any help would be appreciated.

Ugh... I'm in the New England area, and whenever I've tried to book with JetBlue or Southwest, I've still gotten ridiculously high prices. Have you tried expedia? I got some REALLY good rates out of Providence from them.

You should sign up for the SW Dings. I've gotten good rates our last couple trips ($120 RT pp). JB is ok if you book early, I have found. Also w/JB you get to choose your seats ahead of time. :king:

I flew SW out of Manchester, NH last April. Bookings became available in November. I would also recommend installing Ding, if for no other reason than SW will inform you when they start booking for a new period through Ding. If you are going during the school break weeks in April, I would recommend staying on top of when SW (or anyone) releases fares. We were able to get SW's discounted Internet Fares for our flight, but those seats were pretty much gone in a matter of a couple of days. We got a really good deal though, $49 each way (plus taxes and fees). We basically got round trip tickets from NH to Orlando for under $120 per person, which is pretty hard to beat.

lately southwest has allowed you to book about 6 months in advance and they always post it on a Wed. If you fly southwest on a Tues. or Wed. the rates are ALWAYS cheaper... and the sooner you book the better chance you have in getting a cheap flight. Good luck, I hope this helps a bit

From Travel Tools at southwest.com:

"On August 23, we plan to open the schedule for purchase through March 7, 2008. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."

Southwest just recently started posting this information on their website. They are currently accepting reservations through January 11, 2008. Of course we leave for WDW on January 18, 2008! :brick:

As it says, check back frequently.

You may want to check Airtran.com. Not sure if they fly near you but their schedule currently runs through May 2008 and they are a very good airline similar to Southwest in service and cost. Good luck!

I'll add one more vote for the SW Ding! The most I've ever paid was $69 one way on SW from Long Island. But I usually get it for $41-$44 one way. I've never found JetBlue to be cheaper than SW. I do like the tv's in the seats of JB though. It will be interesting to see how SW will be able to keep the low fares once their fuel contract ends this year.

Update on SW. Website (Travel Tools) now says:

"We are currently accepting air reservations through March 7, 2008. On November 8, we plan to open the schedule for purchase through May 9, 2008."

I thought it was 6 months. Keep in mind that Jet Blue does have the personal tv's so if the prices are close you may want to consider that. To me it's a great draw. When you have kids it, can be hard to keep them entertained on a plane for 3 hours. With the tv's our flights were heavenly.

DH is dying to try Jetblue (for the tv's, of course!), but for our trip last spring and this Xmas, SW has been much cheaper. And now that we've flown from Manchester, I can't say I'm too excited to go back to Logan. If I lived as close as you do, it would be a different story!

I see your point, I'm only 20 minute's from Logan and Jet Blue is almost always the cheapest for me. I suppose it's becuase SW is not there so there's not cheaper competition. I seemed to remember last year only paying $99 each way and that I booked it about 6months ahead of time.

pats rule!

I ALWAYS GET BETTER PRICES FROM SOUTHWEST THAN WITH JETBLUE. I ALSO THINK IT IS BETTER LEAVING OUT OF T.F. GREEN THAN LOGAN
I'm sure that you do, but I can't drive more than an hour with 2 little ones, not when I'm about 7 miles from Logan. Sometimes I wish I lived closer to Providence or Manchester to take advantage of the competition between the 2 airlines. Maybe then I could go more than once a year.
