Magic Express - Are you allowed...

to not put their luggage tags on your suitcases, and simply get them from Baggage Claim yourself?

It just takes so long for the luggage to get to your room, and without being able to bring sunscreen in a carry-on anymore, even packing your suit to swim until the luggage arrives doesn't hold much appeal.

Do you have to let ME know this? Or can you just show up with your ME ticket and luggage and ask them to put it under the bus you are riding on?

Thanks!

Yes you are allowed to do that. We generally do, since we usually arrive after 10 pm. It's really not a hassle, and they'll load your luggage under the bus for you and unload it at your resort (don't forget to tip!)

Since I've been a waitress, I completely understand tipping, especially when it comes to spa treatments, hair dressers, etc. But aren't they putting everybody else's luggage under the bus as well? Or are we always supposed to tip ME? Just curious.

No, if you have the tags on your luggage, the bags don't go on the bus with you. So, since the driver is handling your bags, I assume a tip is in order.

If you don't put the Magical Express tags on your luggage then you will have to claim them yourself, which is what we have done so we didn't have to wait for our luggage. I would definately tip the ME driver, just like you would tip a taxi driver or any other car service.

You can also buy sunscreen wipes, and those can go in your carryon bags. The beauty of magical express is not having to worry about the luggage.

True, true, but having to wait 3-4 hours because you want to re-do make up and hair and shower before heading off to dinner at DTD or a resort hotel kind of stinks. :)

Gotcha - makes sense. I was just checking :animwink:

You can bring sunscreen in carryon though, as long as container is 3 oz or less... http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

I forgot about that...it has to be in its original container, though, correct? I mean, you can't transfer suntan lotion into a smaller shampoo bottle, can you? I never know...

I manage to take all of my makeup in my carryon, plus a small container of shampoo, conditioner, suntan lotion, etc. - with all liquids fitting into the 1 quart size bag limit. I've had my luggage lost for days on end more many times than I can count now, so I always plan to be able to survive with just my carry on stuff for at least 2 days. Anything that is critical and cannot be quickly replaced by a trip to the hotel gift shop gets into my carry on. I even carry a swimsuit and complete change of clothes for both my daughter and myself in my carry on, in one of those space bags that squishes it. And all of this fits into a lot smaller space than you'd think!!

No, it does not have to be in the original container (prescription medicines should be, but that's a different issue). Buy one of the cheap $.50 plain plastic bottles at Target/WalMart and fill it with sunscreen. Or, if you are really paranoid about it, you can often buy mini-bottles of sunscreen. I get 1oz size bottles, perfect for a day, at my local Target.

Just like I think each time we eat at a restaurant..... isn't the waiter/waitress bringing drinks and meals to everyone else? J/K You are tipping for the extra service the driver is providing you. Everyone elses luggage is not going on the bus and will meet up with them later in the day. Even if they were putting everyones luggage underneath...being that I have 10 or so bags.. I'd still give him/her a tip.
