Summer's End with Magic Friends

Well, see. That's hard to answer. I'm planning on going to visit my friends at UCF for a few days over my birthday, then right after that we're moving. But somewhere along the lines this whole summer, my mom and I got confused as to what days I'd be gone. She thought it was 29-31 Aug. I swear I told her 30 Aug-01 Sept. Apparently we're leaving on 01 Sept, so I can't do that anymore. It's just a matter of miscommunication, but now I have to rearrange all the plans and I HATE doing that.

That is sooo easy to do with children. I don't always see eye to eye with my sons but they are grown now and I have to let go somewhat. I still am hanging on quite a bit also.

I think it's a summer before college tradition. That and parents not letting their kids do some major event :lol:

I'm the third person in two weeks that I know have had to fight with their parents over doing some activity.

Quick hello - just had a disturbing phone call from my brother's MIL. I think I told you before that her cancer has returned. They were going to wait to start her chemo,since she is currently healing froma broken ankle. Well, it seems the doctor decided she needed to start right away. It doesn't sound good - pleas pray for her.....

Quick hello - just had a disturbing phone call from my brother's MIL. I think I told you before that her cancer has returned. They were going to wait to start her chemo,since she is currently healing froma broken ankle. Well, it seems the doctor decided she needed to start right away. It doesn't sound good - pleas pray for her.....

Of course, prayers are being sent now.

For us, it's a matter of different schedules, so we barely see him. Then when we make plans or he makes plans, something always comes up and plans change. Then we blame each other. I think it's God's way of getting us both to let go....

Thanks guys - I really appreciate it. She's my age and has basically raised my brother's kids since his wife died 12 years ago. She really doesn't deserve this (no one does!)

Sorry, it's just I'm apparently a fly by the seat of my pants girl when I go on trips. Like when I go down to Disney, I may plan the basics, but never go as far to plan every aspect of the day. Or when I went to Chicago last fall, and WHF and I just drove to the city, had no idea where we were gonna go, but just stopped where we wanted to. We had a blast with that. (Mostly...with one tiny fight)

Yeah, that's not gonna be this trip to Chicago. She's attempting to plan everything. Homey don't play that.

Sounds like some compromise on both sides is in order.
Maybe if you agree to some of the things she'd like to do, you can then say you'd like to be flexible about other things.
