Hey everyone. I discovered something pretty cool on my last trip. I found this little beauty at the Backlot Express at MGM...

...which I think was the hovercraft from the Mesa Verde scene in Horizons.

Didn't it once appear on the Backlot Tour as well?

Wow, I can definately see the resembelence, I hope that this is the original from Horizons but if they do anything with the back lot tour that they don't destroy it.

I wonder why they would have stripped all the paint from it though?

I think the hovercraft is actually at the Disney Studios Paris backlot tour.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the case. DSP has a couple of Horizons artifacts. I'm not sure that this one is from Horizons...could be, I'm just not sure. Looks like a giant bottle opener to me. :slurp:

The *original* is on the Disney Studios Paris Backlot Tour. This appears to be a spare, unused shell. But it's definitely the same vehicle. I noticed it a few years ago.

Ahh wow, you learn something new every day here on wdwmagic, does anyone know what else they have over in Paris from Horizons or any other attractions?

I always thought that this was the mold that they used to make it. Still really neat. (There's ALOT of WDI molds in Backlot Express. See if you can find some more! My favorite is the mold for the 20K divers!)

Good find...I guess a mold seems like the most reasonable explanation. I can't imagine all of the paint and what not being stripped off of the original for no good reason.

Finally! I have been asking for photos of this for a long time. I've heard thats the mold used to make the hovercraft. I actually have spotted a lot of cool things in that area. If anyone has detailed pictures of the backlot express, I have a request.

Why would they display old Epcot props in the DSP backlot? None of the Europeans on that tour will have any idea what those things are. Seems like such a waste to house them there. Bring them back to the good ol' USA!
