I say, YES, YES, YES!!! It is soooo magical to be in the park for the Christmas party. One thing we've found is to really immerse ourselves in the special events you can only see during MVMCP. When we first attended, we'd try to use it to pack lots of rides in and maybe catch a parade or the fireworks. We had been missing so much doing this. I suggest trying to get a reservation for Liberty Tree Tavern before the 7pm party start time. You'll have a great "Christmas Dinner" and already be in the park ready to go. Make time to see Mickey's Twas The Night Before Christmas in Tomorrowland. Watch the special fireworks and enjoy the snow on Main Street during the Christmas parade. Even stop to enjoy some free hot chocolate and cookies!! You'll still be able to hop on some rides, but you'll feel so much of the Christmas spirit this way. :xmas:

My very long and complicated $0.02...

I was interested in going to WDW during Christmas time because I thought MVMCP looked like a lot of fun. So what I did to help me make a decision was I bought a DVD online which was taped during the 2006 MVMCP and it showed the fireworks, parade, and Mickey's play performance and FWIW I was a little unimpressed (not with the quality of the movie, it was next to perfect for being done by a guest but with the party itself). :snore:

I try to give some credit to the fact that I wasn't actually there and maybe I would have been swept up in the moment and the Disney Magic if I was, but the tickets are very pricey! In fact you'll pay approx. $200 for 4 tickets. So in my mind, if I was in your shoes and had the opportunity to go during the holiday season, would I buy MVMCP tickets? Things are already going to be costly enough giving the time of year so, I would say No.

But to be fair, here's a couple other suggestions as to I feel it wouldn't be vs. why it would a good idea to buy tickets:

Reason why not: I've heard reviews that it's not necessary to pay the ticket fees since the decorations are up all the time and therefore you already get to feel the special Christmas magic for free without extra added ticket costs.

Reason Why: Now, someone might ask, for someone so against MVMCP, why do I care so much about MNSSHP that I would go twice on my next stay in WDW? I LOVE the fact that I'll get to stay at MK until all hours of the night without it being an EMH night. I bought a second set of tickets just for that fact alone since my second MNSSHP is on my last night in FL. Who knows, maybe paying the extra $200 for the same benefit might be worth it for you?

And just for fun an on-the-fence reason why/why not: I think it would be tons of fun for the little ones but for the older folks including the possible grandparents in your group, might think it's a little too childish and boring.

If you're interested and if it's not against the Board rules, I can tell you where I got my MVMCP DVD, it wasn't too expensive and really was a great way to what goes on in regards to the special events during the party. Then again, I'm sure you could see a bunch of videos taken on YouTube as well and that's free!

I have heard this too and have no idea why this is said. We were there last year during the first week of December, and most of the decorations that were there during MVMCP were NOT up the rest of the time. Maybe they keep them up all of the time later in the season when it is closer to Christmas?

I have heard this as well and we noticed the same thing as you. The snow on Main Street only happens during the party and there are other "special decorations" up only for the MVMCP. This year, they are adding special white twinkle lights of some sort to the castle spires to create a snow effect. That will also be only for the party. I'm not sure a DVD would do MVMCP justice. We also love MNSSHP and have shown our home movies to others. It's just not the same "magical" feeling as being there!

Also, we always go with the grandparents and I think they have an even better time because they get to watch their grandkids have these magical moments. And if we're going to WDW, aren't we all kids at heart anyway. It seems like a big expense, but I say, "Give it a try!".

It's definitely worth the price. This year will be our third year and we wouldn't miss it. The parade is WONDERFUL. And there are a variety of different Christmas themed shows to see and most rides are open...so it's just a fun night all around.:)

I'm cheap and I would say it's worth it, at least once. I believe that the castle effects will be on all the time, not just during MVMCP as previously stated. WDW does little to nothing that is not for the masses. But why would I go? Simple, I usually treat it as an extra day at the parks for less than typical admission. I sleep in the day we are going to MVMCP and do not use a day of regular tickets at any of the parks. Now, I have my MVMCP pass that says the party starts at 7pm, BUT I know that I can be there and be allowed in with that ticket between 4 and 5pm ( have entered at 4:30 before). We ride all that we can until 6pm when they shut everything down except the stores on main street and herd everyone without a wristband out of the parks. they even close the food and shops at the back of the park. We sit in the galaxy theater in tomorrowland because the first show is at 6:45. Now, we've already rode some of the big attractions, had a potty break and seen the first Christmas show, and we're off! We have 5 hours of private park time, fireworks, parade, and rides and we are fresh until the end. Many people will come from another park and just be pooped by 10 or earlier. So yeah, it makes sense to me.

We did MVMCP for the first time last year and loved it. It was definitely worth the price. We're planning to go back at the same time next year and have plans to attend the party once more. We didn't try to do the rides or anything. Our attitude was that we were there for the Christmas Party, we were going to do the 'party' things, like the stage shows, the parade, the character meet & greets and the fireworks. We could ride the rides anytime but we couldn't do the party things except that night. We went and just immersed ourselves in the Christmas season and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's already worked into our schedule for the next trip.

I'm even trying MNSSHP for the first time this year after the fun I had at MVMCP last year.

I just love to watch the parade and wishes. But to be honest the reason i would pay extra is just to be in the Kingdom at night with all the lights on.

Last time I went was several years ago - park was quite crowded and my exDH found a bug in his complimentary cocoa, so I'd have to go with a "not worth it" on this one

After we left the park (we were both kinda grossed out about the bug :hurl: ) we did get to see a shuttle launch from outside the gates - to my right there were fireworks over the castle and to my left was the launch so that was pretty cool :)

The party itself though? Not so much
