Discovery River Boats now in the Seven Seas Lagoon?

I couldn't find this posted anywhere, so forgive me if the subject has already been discussed...

While walking into MK yesterday I noticed a different looking boat at the Resort Launch. It looked exactly like the old Discovery River boats from AK, just stripped down to its bare bones and given a new sign (it was going to Wilderness Lodge I believe). Is this in fact what happened to those some of those ill-fated vehicles (I know at least one is still making the rounds at AK as a special character appearance)? It didn't really fit within the theming of the area, but it was neat to see. I unfortunately did not get the chance to grab a photo as I was caught up in the mob going into the park.

I think some of those boats were being used for the Pirate adventure that is available for a nominal fee for kids. When out on a fishing excursion one afternoon tied up to the end of the pier at the Poly, we saw a boat go by that was full of little boys yelling argh......

They are used during peak season as extra boats on the transportation routes.

Ah, that makes perfect sense - thank you Champion. I usually avoid MK like the plague during extremely busy seasons, so that would explain it. :)

And as for looking different, it didn't seem as brightly painted and decorated as I recall from the original ride.

Is this what you happen to be talking about?

It was used for some private party at Fort Wilderness last night.

I saw one of these last August. when we asked the driver what they were for, he said they were training with them. Maybe they were new to the Lagoon then?

When we were there in January we went on a "Pirate cruise" on one of these boats, I don't know much of the specifics, as it was a gift from my sister, but it was really nice seeing the fireworks from the boat. It launched from the Contemporary.

EDIT: It's was part of a "Grand Gatherings". It was the "Magical Fireworks Voyage" as described here.
