The new buggies have been in a rolling replacement for a while now. I think they have a new mold with different material. When one breaks beyond repair, they replaced it with a new one. I'm assuming all the buggies will be replaced in the refurbishment with this style.

I would think this is a good sign. There has been debate that this refurbishment isn't going to be long enough for huge, substantive changes. But, if they have been replacing old doombuggies with these (overnight, presumably) for a little while and they make the audio much better, it means one big problem--the audio--while only take one day to fix. Does that mean they will have enough time for other big upgrades to the ride (Nightmare, Gift shop)? I guess we'll see.

Thats great news, looks like they are doing minor upgrades already before the refurb date. It sux that I will be there after it goes down for its rehab schedule, but I have high hopes for this rehab. I think when its done we all will be pleasantly surprised at the pristine shape HM will be in afterwards.

Are there even security cameras at the HM?

And I know what you mean about the ride...even back in February the place was just filthy with dust.
I heard a story that a new custodial person went inside and completely polished the staircase one morning! LOL! (Sorry for spoiling the magic)

I rode in a new Doombuggy back in late March, so they've obviously been upgrading the fleet for quite some time.

I would imagine that is something that would NOT need to be done during a full-blown refurbishment, since the vehicles can be replaced/repaired one-at-a-time without shutting down the ride.

I rode the Haunted Mansion several times last week, and I must say it doe's indeed look like crap. The scrims throughout the grave yard were very clearly seen, and the duelist in the grand hall were out of sync. The duelist to the left never even fully emerged from the picture. I did for the first time see an official hidden Mickey (that I was told to look for by my Keys to The Kingdom tour guide, I think his name was Sean) It was right when you get to the opera singer in the graveyard, you look all the way to your right, and there is a screen with the grim reaper on it, with a little Mickey head in his hand. I hope they do a lot of work on the upcoming refurb, it needs it bad

yep...the only "official" Hidden Mickey on the ride.

And yes, the Mansion surely needs its refurbishment. Hopefully they have already ordered the necessary parts so it will just be a process of cleaning things up and replacing what needs to be replaced (that is the only way I can see a major refurbishment fitting into 3 months).

Yes indeed. I remember back when the attraction opened, there was a bit of dust collecting throughout the ride. Disney has to do something about their lackadesical custodial crew.
