Journey into Imagination - any updates?

That's not rude at all, just honest. I promise you I will not make another post in a thread with a 'last post' outside of 2007.

But hey, I was getting better...I went from 2002 to only bringing back things that were in 2006!

I hope you don't take this as rude when I say this because I am in no way meaning to be rude, but you have resurrected a few threads during your time here on the fourm and I think you need to slow down on doing so. I can personally say that the project is still in the works, but no more news has come yet other than what has been said countless times before. Basically follow the rule of "if you don't see anything about it, don't dig into it by bringing back an old thread..."

Would you say that a refurb of Spaceship Earth will happen before or after an overhaul of the imagination pavillion?

What are you people insane??? Nothing major is going to happen at SSE, except for another post show that thousands of people a day will walk past. The Imagination refurb has been sitting on the table since last July, the funding is still not being given. They were only given ten million, which is not near enough to to do anything. So until the big budget is accepted, there will be no changes to imagination.

Wrong.
Siemens is cutting a sizeable check for SSE...and not just for postshow.
Imagineering is WAY on the back burner.

You are getting better and I can tell you are someone that will stay active here, so it isn't a problem, as you are getting better!

There is no doubt that SSE will have its rehab before Imagination. SSE has a budget and a sizable one at that. Imagination had a budget but it was cut for various reasons (including Nemo going over budget)...

There was more to the budget on Imagination, but it was cut. SSE has someone backing its rehab. Kodak isn't extremely happy about the push for Imagination to be redone. They haven't been happy about the Imagination pavilion in a long time...

No. Are you? You tell us how you know nothing major is going to happen, and we`ll watch and see who`s right. Good job I`m not easlily offended.

Unless of course, like your profile says, you actually live on Royal Oak or Bay Court and know more than we do?

Do you mean that Kodak hasn't been happy with the pavilion since they had the imagination ripped out during that first refurb.?:lookaroun

There isn't a day goes by that I don't wish I wasn't a billionaire so I could fix the park up like it needs.

there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish Kodak would end its contract w/ Disney at the soonest possible moment. Fuji would invest a lot more and I don't care which brand of film they mark up in the gift shops. I have a digital camera, regardless...

Now is there any truth to the rumors that Siemens sponsorship is more than just Spaceship Earth and that Siemens is financing a retooling of the whole area where Innoventions is as well as a new incarnation of Illuminations? if so..I REALLY love Siemens.

I don't know about Innoventions, but a new version of IllumiNations? Yep.

Siemens would get huge kudos from me if they provide the funds to give SSE a good rehab and help bring a brand new Illuminations show to Epcot. The parks could use more sponsors like that.

No, I mean that Kodak is very detached to the pavilion at this point. I have spoken to three of the main representatives of the Kodak sponsorship for the Imagination Pavilion and all of whom have said that Kodak has given Disney full lead to do the projects they need for the pavilion as long as they are within the budget. Kodak gives the low budgets, Disney attempts to stretch them as much as possible. Disney finds that the latest version under performs and orders for a new version, hence Kodak pays more...

Kodak isn't happy with this process which is why the 4th version will be meant to last a long time. The budget was there and it was sizable compared to the last two rehabs, but certain projects cut into the "Imagination Reserve" as I refer to it.

Yes, Siemens is covering Innoventions, Illuminations and SSE mainly (along with other minor pieces of the park). Innoventions has begun to recieve its slow re-working and SSE is also in the works. Illuminations' new version is on the way, but I was given a timeframe that said that it will not premier before October 1st, 2007, as in it won't show up until after the Year of a Million Dreams ends (or depending on how you look at it, Epcot's 25th begins)...

Both are in the works...

Several major sponsors have agreements for Innoventions that aren't represented. Amoung them, Siemens and Burnham Institute (the biomedical who was promised Epcot space for free). Over at DL, the AT&T stuff is in the process of being ripped out and replaced with Siemens.

The Too Small to See area is temporary - i think it expires in like May or something. Maybe June? Someone else can look that up :) It currently covers a large part of Innoventions West, but is to leave and become a touring educational exhibit at science centers around the country.

Siemens is a good sponsor...they fork over a lot of money and get to display their name on Spaceship Earth for tens of thousands of guests to see every night (along with the very welcome return of the laser projection on the globe). I call that more than a fair trade.

Kodak has a right to be a little peeved. Yes, they've been cheap, and that's annoying, but Disney has managed to twice come up with largely uninspired rehabs for the ride. They need to take the reasonably cool special effects of the current version and add those to the character and story of the original ride. All the original ride needed in its update was new effects and science videos that didn't look like they were made in the 1950s.

It could happen that soon? Wow, last time I heard anything about this, I thought the date was 2009-ish, unless this rumor is seperate from the old "Sky Dance" rumor.

(I don't mean to hijack the Imagination thread, but this caught my attention.)
