:hammer:sorry, i couldn't find the hotels topic :hammer:
since cedar point has an indoor water park resort,
why not Disney? they'll get more guests?
and they'll have enough money for a 5th park?
it's not a rumor, but a made-up hotel.
facts:
it is a deluxe hotel ($315 a night)
3 acre water park
spa
1 acre arcade
400 hotel suites

i will post again to tell you about the water park
and again for photos

It is warm enough most of the year in Florida to be outside. I would rather be outside sitting in the warm sun then indoors.

During the winter months, one closes for rehab and the other stays open. They alternate years on closing, but yes, there is at least one water park open year round.
I just discovered that on particularly cold days, the water park not in rehab may not open. A Blizzard Beach CM whose day off was yesterday told me that CMs were told on Thursday that Blizzard would not be opening on Friday due to the cold and that they would be deployed elsewhere. I haven't confirmed this, however.

It makes sense. There's no point in paying a park full of CMs if only 5 hearty souls are going to show up to get wet in the 50-something degree, windy weather.

That very well may be the case, but since the water is heated, and Disney is not prone to closing parks unless its a direct hit hurricane, it would definately suprise me.

I say if they did ever do this... They should build one in the midwest. We have quite a bit in my area... If they were to put a disney one near by, I would for sure visit every weekend.. Or at least every other weekend..!:)

I was at WDW for Thanksgiving week. It was VERY cold at the the beginning of the week. I am not sure which day, but Typhoon Lagoon was definitely closed at least 1 day while I was there due to cold weather. (11/20/06-11/26/06)

I'm sorry, but what exactly are you trying to say here? :brick:

As far as an indoor water park goes, I wouldn't count on it, there really is not point in doing it in Florida, maybe if Disney tried to build one elsewhere.

Think about it, the average high temperature in Florida get no lower than 70, I doubt they'll invest in an indoor water park when they can build them bigger and better outside, and risk having to close it a couple days out of the year when it gets cold.

You can look at the site for average temps

I could definitely see an indoor water park being popular, and not only in January, but also in the summer--imagine a water park that could have A/C in the summer and be protected from the mid-day thunderstorms that close the current water parks. It would sure beat standing out in the sun in line for Crush 'n' Gusher for an hour in mid-July...

I agree completely that this may be a more lucrative venture for Disney than on its face not because of the winter but because of the summer. It can get very hot such that it is almost hot to be outside on days. Therefore, as noted, this could allow for more climate control in both the cold and summer seasons.

But, these are not proving as successful as some investors would have hoped across the midwest and east coast. So, I wouldn't count on it anytime soon.

As a former Disney Cast member (within the last six years I was employed there for four), I can definitely confirm that the waterpark that is open during the winter months will be closed on cold days.

oh, it's just 2 water parks (indoor) that are near me are under 3 acres, cedar point's 1 and erie is 2 so this might be a weird pattern:veryconfu

on the water park
a zipcoater from whitewater
a wave pool and pool (duh, each water park has a wave pool and each resort has a pool) a waverider
a 5 story playhouse with a tipping bucket
a kiddie pool
a mini basketball arena, with the walking on a net at blizzard beach
3 wild slides that go outside
and a hot tub.

next post (or not) photos

the disney park in singapore (currently in negotiations) is speculated to be indoors. it is not a MK by the way...

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/229204/1/.html

"According to reports, it's believed that the Singapore Disneyland - if it goes through - would be of the same scale as the 70ha Tokyo theme park.

This small scale, and Singapore's hot weather, could lead to Disney adopting a new generation of indoor theme parks that its CEO Robert Iger floated last year in a Wall Street Journal report.

He said there were "three or four entities in the world, locations with money, that are looking for site-based entertainment" - full rides and shows within a building.

"I'll call them theme parks but they won't necessarily be along the same lines as parks we've built before ... In the next year to two years ... we will commit to creating a new concept or some entity outside the US," he said then. Analysts pointed out he could be hinting at Singapore.
