I am leaving for The World On November 24th through Dec.2nd and i called last night to confirm everything and the guy on the phone told me that Christmas decorations dont start going up until the day after Thanksgiving. Now thats the day i am going to be getting there and i was wondering will they put most of it up overnight or how is that done??

They've been up for a few months now. Fun to watch them put the big stuff together every morning heading into work.

Decorations start going up the day after Halloween. When the Halloween night MNSSHP ends, they tear down to prepare for the start of the holiday decorations.

Have they always started so early? I went for Thanksgiving in 1999 and was told then that they go up overnight the night before Thanksgiving. Was that wrong or has it changed since then?

The past few years Disney has started putting them up earlier and earlier. They *used* to go up right around Thanksgiving in a single overnight blitz (well, about 90% of the decorations in one night. Some took longer). It was quite astounding for those that are visiting at that time: One day nothing, the next morning it's a Christmas Wonderland.

But one of the main reasons I heard from a CM friend of mine is that Guests were complaining that there weren't any decorations up in mid-to-early November. That they'd heard so much about how Disney goes all-out with their Christmas decorations, and that "the Christmas decorations are up at the mall back home, why aren't they up here?"

[Side note... Went to my local mall tonight, and THEIR Christmas decorations are all up... I wanted to choke... Halloween was on TUESDAY, folks! Jeez!]

I think we all just need to accept that the 'Holiday Season' which comprises Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Kwanzaa and Christmas (and others unintentionally left out [oh yeah, and New Years]) now begins on Nov. 1 and extends until Jan. 2. So much more time for Holiday joy!
