It has been officially announced that Palio will be closing at the Walt Disney World Swan resort. The replacement has not yet been announced, but it will still be Italian cuisine and will be a contracted company. As more information is released I will make sure it's posted here ASAP!

I guess I should wait to pass judgment, but this strikes me as awful news. Palio has had the only really decent Italian food at WDW (although Portobello is OK), and I can't see a contracted company matching that quality. Alas, we're likely stuck with the crud that passes for Italian at Tony's, Mama Melrose, and Alfredo's - no better than Olive Garden :hurl:

You'll be surprised. Palio is one of our main restaurants for bringing in the money, that's not a problem at all. This new restaurant is going to bring it in even more. If you love Palio's, this will be even better. The hotel wouldn't have spent so much time deciding on losing one of our own restaurants for a contracted restaurant if it wasn't going to be as good. Just wait and see. ;)

I hope so - we'll probably give it a try. Any idea if it will be open by the marathon weekend in January?
