MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I mean...to be fair, that's not really what shoehorning means. Shoehorning is forcing something to fit into a space that it's in reality too big for. This was designed to fit in this space. It not being what this space was initially designed for would not make it shoehorned in.
Are you kidding me?

Well I don't think Piston Peak fits the definition of shoehorn at all...

Well atleast we agree on something 🥂
I would always MUCH prefer them to relocate mature trees, sure its probably prohibitively expensive but those many years that tree was growing cannot be replicated or "sped up". If you want areas with nice shade, you NEED mature trees like these.

Not to mention, a dedication to preserving nature in a way that you don't see done very often anywhere these days.

As easy as it is for me to find fault with current management, it's nice to see they still see a value in continuing this practice when it would be so effortless for them to just chop everything down and plant a few seedlings somewhere to call it even.

I don't think it's a decision this management regime made one way or the other. They've been moving/saving/preserving trees likely since dirt started moving in the late 1960's because they know they need them, either now or in the future.

Not sure if it is related to the Piston Peak and Villains Land construction or not but the timing seems to be. But in @bioreconstructs recent images it appears that a backstage building has been demolished. Do we know what building this was? Any thoughts on what is maybe moving there or why they would want this area now?

Here it is from the CFTOD web site. I also found the permit for this..

Contrator is H*o*a*r Construciton which is one of Disney's big contractors, and it expires 12/31/2027. Appears to just be a set of trailers, they may me replacing it with a proper building.

As a follow up - according to the CFTOD, this area has been updated to MK Park 3 Support Building:

My perspective on this rushing creek/stream/river: As someone who's lived in the CO rocky mountains for over 15 years, there aren't really any wide rivers here until the smaller rushing creeks and streams finally make it to the Colorado River, via the two major rivers that make up the Colorado: The Yampa and the Green rivers. One of these actually goes through my town, and it's only sort of impressive for about 3-4 weeks. What you see next to mountains are usually rushing creeks and streams, which aren't very wide yet, just fast! It's mostly from snowmelt, and there's just a lot more water in the springtime... just not really this year, unfortunately. 😕 Anyway, I think that this will look fine, as long as you're not expecting it to be anything like RoA, which was (is in DL), slow and wide, which aren't usually anywhere near mountains. I think it will make more sense when seeing this feature in person.

I also think that the way that the waterfall meets the stream in front of Adventureland is going to be a super impressive sight to behold! I see these kinds of things IRL all of the time, and I should be the last person to be impressed by fake scenery, but having also lived in FL for quite a few years, it's just that this is the kind of sight that only Disney is really capable of pulling off, especially in that flat, boring lowland. 🥷 I've been to Epic, and Isle of Berk is admittedly pretty impressive. I just also don't think that anyone pulls off realistic rockwork quite like I've seen at some of the Disney parks, like DCA and AK... They've actually been doing it since 1955, so they'd BETTER be good at it, by now! 😜

I don’t agree with the shoehorn metaphor. If they had an existing project they were trying to force into an available space - like, say, SWGE into DHS to roughly match the configuration for the DL version - that would be a shoehorn. Here, they have made an available section of the park with something of a blank slate for a new sub-land (DON’T CALL IT A LAND) that they are building new and organically.
