We all hope he’s different.

The jury is out. Gonna take awhile
Agreed on that, it will be a while to break some bad habits that have popped up. I do find it funny that shortly after... the other site.. posts about maintenance problems, they seemingly quickly are going in to handle it. As to why they need someone to point these things out, eh that part I'm not crazy about but I atleast respect that they acknowledge it.

Also the reports with Josh acknowledging Star Wars Galaxy's Edge's shortcomings and seemingly correcting some course. And to publicly state that they don't want people "liking" but "loving" attractions bodes well imo.

To me, there is atleast an acknowledgement of the various problems, whether that leads to concrete things changing is another story but public acknowledgement is a good first step that imo keeps those in charge more responsible. You can't say that *x* is a problem but you're turbocharging the parks and never work on *x*

That’s what happens when you use the parks as your sole international cash cow…
Obvious move to highlight it when you “arrive”…but they need a consistent quality standard moving forward (again). That would be a win

Almost the easiest thing he could do is admit Star Wars mistakes and make changes ASAP…

Its almost hard to explain in any earth language the degree of obvious this is…

Quartely pressure will dictate all decisions…alas

Idk to me someone who is atleast willing to admit faults/short comings and talk to fans is starting off at a MUCH better level than others. Josh hasn't really had a chance to prove himself independently yet imo so I think its unfair to completely square him away but he's proven approachable, a good speaker, CMs and fans like him, and there has been some noticeable changes into the quality improvement with multiple attractions getting refurbs that, to be quite honest, have needed them for years/decades. I'm not saying its Josh but to me its saying that the purse is loosening up a little bit recently.

As Iger and well as billions of others online, has proved, talk is easier than action.

There were certain groups of cast members in my experience who had a strange parasocial relationship with Bob and referred to him in a particularly odd (and kind of disturbing) way. I'm going to be curious if that continues with Josh...

For what it's worth while I've never met Josh myself (simply haven't gotten the chance), I will say that I have heard that he is particularly beloved by frontline cast members in a way that we haven't seen in many many years. And the executives I've known who have worked with him or met him enough to form an opinion of him have also spoken highly of him.
There is a really weird love for this guy that goes well beyond an intense parasocial thing. He may be a lovely man and a decent person - He probably is! And he seems to be able to exhibit a lot of empathy.

That’s all great. He was also the Parks head when they did away with DME, introduced park reservations, restricted park hopping, increased ticket prices almost twofold, introduced paid Fastpass, introduced ILL, leaned heavily into variable pricing, greatly expanded the hard ticket events, and a bevy of other initiatives that have made the guest experience more expensive and more unpleasant.

I was actually at Animal Kingdom on the day they announced Josh as CEO, numerous cast members and guests I could overhear singing his praises saying that they actually met him and he seemed down to earth and like a pretty humble/good guy.

An exclusive leak of Josh's "First Things To Do Once I'm CEO" list. Can't say where this was obtained, but... it's obviously super accurate.

1. Buy new skinny jeans ✅
2. Use Bob's billion dollar investment in OpenAI to write new bio ✅
3. Say lots of nice things in first shareholders meeting ✅
4. Announce vague name for new cruise ship ✅
5. Drum up excitement for things not built yet ✅
6. Shut off Bob's ID badge 🤫
7. DON'T TALK ABOUT PRICES!!! ❌
8. Show Thomas where I hid all my secret park ideas Bob wouldn't let me do
9. Relegate Universal Studios to the dustbin of history
10. Fundamentally transform TWDC and Disney theme parks

He's off to a great start! Hopefully he can keep the momentum going. 👍

It’s funny how so many who were so upset about the end of the Magical Express and the introduction of ILL they were never going to the parks again but they still go.

We may have lost some things we liked, but it turns out those may have been good short-term business decisions, which seemed to be Bob Iger’s focus.

does the "Announce vague name for a new cruise ship" even mean in this context?

what did you expect the Disney Encanto, Snow White, etc Cruise? They always do one word names to symbolize what characters/movies will be there

Nice strawman, and it also rings as untrue. Attendance is way way down from 2019 and hasn’t recovered, all while Orlando travel continues to skyrocket.

It’s pretty clear that many past guests haven’t returned. Why isn’t as clear, but pricing and costs and a less pleasant experience cannot be discounted.

With the pricing and costs, attendance can’t go back to the miserable crowds of 2019.
