Hoppers (Pixar Spring 2026)

The premise reminds me of that movie, if anyone has seen both how do they compare?

More of a comedy. Much more anthropomorphic. The gist being all critters are anthropomorphic in their own way, we just can’t tell; rather than the main character having to instill human behaviour or learning much about animal behaviour. Most of the “animal behaviour” the movie offers you’ve seen in the trailers.

Wild Robot is more artsy and sentimental. This movie goes unhinged. Both in their own good way.

I’d say this movie is more Pixar’s’ Secret life of pets than Wild Robot, tonally. Rather than a statement of quality, this is a much better movie than Secret Life of Pets. Or kinda reminiscent of how Fish act in Nemo.

I thought it was good. I think it sort of jumps the shark 😀 but they lean so hard into it that it works. Tonally id say it didn’t feel like a Disney/ Pixar movie but we enjoyed it. I do think the human turning into an animal thing is getting played out but of course this one has its own spin.

I thought the animation was visually appealing. The 3D animation was nice and animals had a certain stylized texture that almost made them look like stuffed animals that came to life of just super 3D if you will (even though we saw it in 2D). It looked like you could feel them if that makes any sense. It’s late and I’m not sure I’m communicating this how I’d like.

Did you go with the kids? What did they think?

They really liked it. My 10 year old son asked if we could see it in theatre's again. My 5 year old daughter was engaged. The trailers worked for them and they were anticipating this one for a while.

That’s great! And the 5 year old wasn’t bothered by how… creepy things got at the end there?

But sorry son we are not seeing it again in theaters. Especially in Dolby. We have Mario, Michael, Moana and Mando (all M’s) coming up. Toy Story 5. Even that sheep detective movie looks kind of good but maybe I’m nostalgic for Babe.

I only saw half of the movie because the theater lost power. From the half I saw, I thought the main character was extremely unlikable and insufferable (however well intentioned) but that the movie was quite funny.

In some countries the movie is called "Jumpers", which I find amusing

It didnt feel like a Pixar film but more like a Dreamworks/Sony Animation movie with beautiful animation. Overall, it was pretty good and had a lot of funny moments. It was Definitely better than a lot of other outings Pixar has released recently.

Very enjoyable and thought it had a lot of Pixar heart. It was maybe a tad long in the buildup to the third act, but even that’s a minor issue. Does anyone know the last Pixar title that had an animated short attached at the beginning?

Saw it with my 6-year-old and mostly enjoyed it, although I think it will be fairly forgettable for both of us.

One thing I’ve been wondering about - are movies getting faster and more complicated, or is my perimenopausal, working mom brain just too foggy to comprehend them anymore? Allergy meds this time of year certainly don’t help either. If you asked me to recount this and Zootopia 2, 70% of my retelling would be “Uuuuh… then they… ran around a lot. I recall a lot of running and chase scenes. Then they figured it out and the movie was over.” In a retell, wouldn’t be able to really delineate the details of the various frantic chase / run scenes and why they were happening.

I’m going to see Hoppers later today. I have heard that it’s a really good movie, but I came across this video on YouTube earlier today, & I’m kinda scared now. Does anyone know if anything it tells you is true or not?

It’s no mega hit but it’s still on track to make 30 million this weekend which is still pretty good. Plus it has already surpassed $100 million.

That's from a rage-baiter who's not allowed here anymore. They say they have inside sources. They lie.

Thought the plotting was pretty solid on this with the progress vs preservation theme: The beltway construction threatening the glade, needing to get the beavers to return to lure other species, petitioning the council (for some reason that made sense in the moment), etc.
