MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

But why if the ride was originally designed to fit the space of a walkthrough ( which we all know is true) did the MK version end up being the smaller cliff notes version? Given they had no constraints of space.... That is the mystery....and it seems like every other version of that ride is better and bigger and longer... At the time they built Pirates, there were no other attractions between Jungle Cruise and the Frontierland train station.... There was plenty of space to work with... So it seems like they in fact did want to make a lesser smaller version.... The narrative is no more cohesive... and the lack of going up the waterfall at the end leaves it without a true end....the only thing that is better at the MK is the queue....
It’s smaller because they thought they were cutting the filler.

I never seen the movie. Have no desire to but does not sound like a promising update.
You should reconsider. It’s the closest work Disney has ever made to Looney Tunes in the best way. There is a reason so many quote it to this day and Kronk and Yizma are so beloved.

“Pull the lever Kronk! Wrong lever! Why do we even have that lever?”
“It just doesn’t make sense”
“I never liked your Spinach puffs”
“Hey, I’ve been turned into a cow, can I go home? You’re excused”

This is exactly what all the frothing fans at the D23 announcement were hoping for.

With an embarrassment of films that have iconic and genre defining villains, they’re leaning in to….

The Emperor’s New Groove?

Feels more like an Armchair Imagineering Idea than a super thought out Imagineering Idea. I'll keep judgement until we actually get things confirmed but I would definitely prefer the Maleficient Coaster from what we know. Unless its a coaster with multiple villians and the lever part is PART of the whole.

Why the hate? Isn’t the complaint around here Disney only adapts the same franchises over and over again? You can’t have it both ways. ENG is a cult classic, it absolutely fits the land it’s being placed in and the type of ride being purposed. What is the problem with this being the secondary ride?

I don't think it was ever going to be “scary” but the roller coaster comp being Slinky Dog is definitely disappointing. Hopefully the water ride is a show stopper.

But, if significant portions of the coaster are enclosed and in the dark ala Space then I think it could work. Just absolutely cannot be a totally exposed coaster.

Getting back onto construction, does anybody have any guesses as to when we could start seeing this thing go vertical if this report is true? Wondering if the 2029 opening is still in the cards/ how much impact this could have on the timeline.

Well cars was always the rumor to open first, so they can still chug along fine with that. Depending on how quick they lock in the new villains plans, could be a short delay, I’d hope not one that goes past a year or so. But it’s anyone’s guess now.
