MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I’d guess they will be partially taking it apart - they won’t need the boiler and steam engines anymore - could potentially store them for future use if they wanted to bring back a steam riverboat in Paris, etc.

If they choose to keep the actual boat as a prop or decor somewhere that would still be an option.
They should just send the whole thing to Paris to have two operational boats again.

I remember umpteen years ago the cast member saying that if not properly handled the boiler could "take out" half the Magic Kingdom 😬

Half the MK is a bit of an exaggeration but a boiler explosion would most likely end many lives - that applies to the railroad as well.

Is it WDW, DL or both that consider a safety valve popping off a serious issue? Can’t remember.

Is it fair to say Piston Peak will be like a Grizzly Peak and will be a very pretty Frontierland expansion AND Villains Land will likely be the best land in the world?
Quoting here so as not to upset anyone for posting in the other thread….

I’d say piston peak will be in the Grizzly Peak / Seven Dwarves Mine style - rockwork, waterfalls, etc. Grizzly peak being the best possible, 7 dwarves being the worst possible (which isn’t bad, just not spectacular).

I don’t think it’s a good design to plop down another “mountain style” in that space and the storytelling gets very messy - the rivers gave a sense of space that will now be lacking. That’s just design stuff - not “space utilization” etc.

We don’t know anything about villains land really - I didn’t think Disney could mess up a Star Wars land as badly as they did. It’s possible Villians could be a home run - but I’m not betting on it. I’m certainly hoping it’s good though.

My bad on the thread! Didn’t realize it was construction progress.

I agree, I think it’ll be at least on-par with New Fantasyland/SDMT, and to me that will actually be quite awesome. While it’s not DLP Frontierland good, it should unquestionably be an awesome expansion and far better utilization.

As for Villains Land, I’ve read a lot, and from what I understand, it does appear that Villains is actually doing what Galaxy’s Edge was supposed to be (in its love for the characters and ambition) except with an even larger budget.

Insane dark ride, world-class Rise-level; likely significantly better, and an elite coaster. This is MK’s Fantasy Springs (except aimed for an older target audience to balance out MK), and it’s time we start treating it as such.

Alongside a town that is actually large, that’s something that could be very special.

It’s going to give MK a land likely equal in scope and scale to Ministry of Magic, except with two bonafide headliners.

Separately, I’m also very excited about Tropical Americas and the Door Coaster. To me, Animal Kingdom is such an elite park just not enough diversity of things to keep you all day… Indiana Jones Adventure is such a ridiculously good ride that if Encanto is at least on Mystic Manor’s level, AK will instantly have many of its issues solved.

Really don’t like Galaxy’s Edge or the Zootopia Show, but it is what it is.

This matches my expectations exactly. Villains Land does not seem completely out of character for the park as Cars does.

In my opinion if they are willing to throw more money at villain's land than at anything Star Wars-related. I really don't think they understand the differing popularity levels of their IP for management whose mandate is literally all IP, all the time. Then again knowing how they treated the Sequel Trilogy, I don't really think they understood what Star Wars was other than its ability to generate lots of profits without even trying

I have 0 issue with the back half of the rivers becoming Villians at MK - while the result may not be perfect - it’s long been an idea to have a Villians attraction in the back half of MK somehwere.

It’s the front of the rivers and piston peak I have issue with.

Indeed, if they could have done it for Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, they could have done it here they just didn't want to, and fan backlash is far quieter in Florida than it would be in California

I think cars is to MK like GOTG is to EPCOT. It doesn't make sense on paper but they are making it make sense, so just hopeful for good execution, and what scares me the most about cars is the ride being short. for villains I feel it feels like a natural fit for the park

Forcing it to make sense by bending the rules isn't having it make sense in my opinion. I still don't believe Avatar fits in DAK no matter how many YouTube videos with Joe Rohde explaining how it fits Disney puts out. If it actually was a thematic fit, there would not be the need for the marketing department to make sense of it.

Avatar doesn't fit no matter how many people on these boards rush to defend it because they like FoP. Beastly Kingdom FOREVER!

I am not crazy for Pixar IP's at MK especially when they had the potential to have a whole area dedicated exclusively to Pixar IP's in DHS and they blew it.
idk id still give it a good 75% we get more Pixar lands at DHS. I mean your getting Monsters Inc and already got Toy Story and would be surprised if we don't get Inside Out or Incredibles based lands in the future.

also isn't MK the only park at WDW without Pixar? bc DHS has TOY Story and Monsters, EPCOT has Ratattouie and maybe one day Coco or Luca, and AK has UP sprinkled throughout the park (even tho I want an UP ride). like besides buzz which is just a character from a franchise with a land at DHS I can't even think of seeing a Pixar character at MK besides parades and shows
