DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

This current parks executive combination has yet to walk away from something they’ve committed publicly to, from my recollection. Zootopia is exactly the type of blog fodder that past iterations would announce too early and then bury when they moved on, or it hit snags.

Certainly a big shakeup could start to manifest 12-18 months from now, but I think everything we’ve been told will likely come to be. Whether it is good or not.

Maybe the second Cars flat for the pessimists is still dubious. Even Porto’s seems like it will still come to be. Probably the most erratic project I can think of right now and I could give them the benefit of the doubt that it is a third party problem.

Well, is this an unexpected twist?

Again, I remain very much on the sideline that the possibility exists that the theatre was not closed for purely cost cutting, but to open in an earlier phase 1. It would have to actually do that to be true of course…

I have to mildly laugh for @mattpeto on Disney’s troll worthy timing.
I am open to be wrong. If the entire land with the theater and door coaster open 3 years past MV3D, I'd give more credence to that old argument for sure. It certainly doesn't take 3 years to demo a single building, walkways and retheme facade and flip a 3D theater film.

But what if the theater show with a M&G space opens in 2027 along with Harryhausen's? Or earlier in 2028 and the doorcoaster opens later that year?

If Disney hasn’t learned that lesson yet I question so much….

Yes! Phased openings never work!
Maybe for some scenarios I could understand, but I don't think it's an issue at Hollywood Studios.

They operated in that space with just MV3D and bunch of mostly nothing burgers (PizzaRizzo/Mama Melrose).

This phased approach would allow them to close/retire/re-invent another theater show for refurbishment (BaatB - please). Or they could close Star Tours permanently for another makeover when they reopen Monstropolis show.

Has anyone else been struck by the combination of the theatre name change from Monstro (I think) to "The Glob" in the latest concept art? Pairing that with Solotech's involvement and their ability to create "wraparound" screens makes me think this might be similar to The Globe Theatre (i.e. Shakespeare) in reverse. Just my $0.02.

I would argue almost every project rn will happen unless a war or pandemic. the only iffy ones are imo the second cars ride and then avatar at dca
Well this thread is about monsters - that looks like it’s for sure happening. And obviously Encanto.

Everything else has a possibility of being cancelled. Not saying probability. Possibly.

And honestly it’s not really fun to speculate for a recession or pandemic so if that’s your thing, have it I guess.

I’m a realist but I don’t come to these forums for it. (Not saying you)

Oh I wasn’t saying they would get cancelled because of any specific reason.

An internal management shakeup could get anything cancelled or modified as well.

Yes. But short of a financial crisis, Disney promised Florida and Anaheim a certain amount spent on the parks. And even if the new CEO doesn't like it, Iger is around until the end of 2026, and the BoD supported the current projects, and they're staying.
