DHS Disney Confirms Muppets Take Over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios

Fugly. Bad show. Aka - Par for the course under Bob and Josh.
I mean it would have been nice to have some notice, but it’s probably telling how irrelevant that pre-show is in the eyes of the guests and management.

Keeping the ride operational and minimizing the downtime is a big plus in my book.

Pre-show is getting an upgrade unless you love screens. Shoot I would take this approach at Cosmic Rewind too.

I wonder if he would’ve complained about UOE reopening in the summer of 96 with the same show mid Ellen conversion and having alot of effects removed.
I think a better analogy would be as if for the last few months of Ellen before the conversion to GOTG operations decided to stop running the pre-show and send guests immediately into the traveling theatres.

It’s all things Disney.

Changes can’t be made without some type of disruption. If an attraction is closed, it’s a problem. If it’s modified, it’s a problem.

The parks have to evolve.
Oh no, I mysteriously wandered into a music studio that's blocked off from seeing the retired band and only to find a stretch limo waiting for my arrival to go to some band that don't play anymore and to see some video loop at the end thanking us for some reason....Yep makes perfect sense to me..Now let's go get that Hot Dog & chips combo from the food truck outside..

This is one of those situations where they were damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they didn't do it in phases and closed the whole thing outright, they'd take flack for closing the ride for longer than necessary, be accused of just trying to save a quick buck, and not showing any care to the park's capacity. But with them actually doing that, the flack they're going to take is bad show and no proper send off for RnRC.

Ultimately, they did what was best for the park for once. Taking the coaster offline for the entirety of the refurb would've had a massive domino effect on the whole park which as is already suffers from unbearable queue times due to top heaviness and lack of diverse capacity.

I think that guests are being given a much fairer shake by having this ride's downtime being shortened than they would be getting by maintaining perfect show for a couple more months and then having the whole thing unnecessarily shut down for longer than it had to be.

“The pre-show wasn’t some masterpiece” is apparently the preferred excuse for bad show by bad management today? Do better.
No excuses. I’m happy to call out bad show but in my opinion this isn’t it. It’s a well-themed wall and 95% of guests won’t even notice something is missing. It’s guest-friendly and allows more to experience the attraction in a park that depends on it. I think this is Disney “doing better”.

probably the best solution would be to have advertised the closing date of the “full experience”
They will probably do it in the most Muppet way possible on the Socials.
This preshow did a great job of introducing the story in a clear, fun, concise manner. Something Guardians severely lacks.
It wasn't as bizarre as the one for the DLP version...

Yes. There is a way to paint this as an effort to ensure guests can still access the coaster as part of their park day even if the experience is reduced.

I am surprised there wasn’t a DPB post about how excited they are to start adding Muppets to the preshow but that “there’s still time” to experience the iconic coaster rushing to an Aerosmith concert.

Kinda like meanderings through the carcass of Dinoland for Dinosaur right now.

Operationally, they are wise to keep the coaster running right now.

I think it's the right idea executed poorly. Had I scheduled a trip to see this one last time cause I love Aerosmith, I'd be livid they took down a large part of the theming aspect when they said it'd be open still. It would have been pretty easy to announce the ride will continue into the new year, but some aspects of the ride may go down early.
