MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

We really don’t have any good points of reference for what it’ll look like over there
Are you talking about on the mansion / Villians side of the trail? Cause the piston peak side we do know. Maybe I didn’t realize what was being talked about.

I'm talking about the HM side, but either way, the bottom of what you've zoomed in on amounts to a ravine. You can't see exactly what sits below it at all points. The illustrated map suggests the cars in the bottom left of your image may be driving alongside a narrow waterway.

I'm still not seeing any water in front of Haunted Mansion in any released concept art....fingers crossed? Wishful thinking??
Certainly not Wishful thinking haha - despite what rumours you might have heard about me , I dont care that much either way about where water goes - even if they start talking about the drainage video theyre all liars;)

I drew water because I saw what looks like water on the high res artwork- if you follow the path from the waterfall it goes somewhere, what looks like under the path. then re-joins the water. honestly i wont be losing sleep over being wrong about less than 200ft of water not being there. For me, in grand scheme of things its just about having a general idea of pathways and ride layout. this was the more recent one i did

I think if you read the illustration in conjunction with the original artwork, you land on the non-waterfall tracts of water as being situated in more or less the following locations:
pistonpeak_water.jpg

The artwork is just done at such an angle that it's difficult to see most of it because of the trees and elevation changes. It only peeks out a bit here and there. Anything beyond that feels like conjecture to me at this point because of where the art cuts off in both cases. Not that it isn't conjecture to begin with since things can obviously change, but you know what I mean.

What noise is everyone talking about. Is it Big Thunder Mtn. or Piston Peak cars. That water fall will block Big Thunder more than anything they have ever had and the cars are electric motors, pretty silent so that the waterfalls should cover most all of that as well. We have started worrying about things that no one has said was even going to happen.
Exactly, from the way some people have described the noise of the Cars, it makes it seem like they're adding the Speedway cars noise when we don't actually know what they'll sound like. Even the noise of the Radiator Springs Racers cars is minimal

It’s not minimal it’s the same sound Test Track makes and it’s extremely noticeable in the immediate area. I don’t know if they will be employing that system at MK but if they do, expect Test Track sounds throughout Frontierland and Liberty Square.

question, how long is this ride gonna be? because I really doubt it can be any longer then 2 minutes unless there's some other floor or indoor. section we can't see

Took a crack at the ride layout on google maps and put Luigi's from DCA behind the cabin. Track length would be ~2,250 feet (not including elevation changes). For reference test track is 5,246 ft and I couldn't find a track length for RSR but AI thinks it's about 4,200 feet.

My best guess was the track length was ~half that of RSR... however that really doesn't tell out duration time because we all have no idea about the average speed of this attraction. Based on the layout above there doesn't seem to be a long enough straightaway to hit the top speeds of TT or RSR... but both those rides also have some very slow dark ride portions and we don't know if this will have it or not.

I hope so. They have said that there will be some portion which will be like climbing the mountain on dirt roads. I hope this will be done slowly.

I thought id already posted this information in here. Ride path measures 900 metres/2700 ft 2D flat (same as Tron in 3D) so might break 1000metres with elevations - i would doubt it will be going tron speeds for most of it so a 120-150s ride time seems an appropriate guess

Radiator Spring Racers I have measured as 1000 metres/ 3300 ft 2D - youd have to guess the elevations
At least as long as the frozen coaster! 🙈
Frozen Coaster is a modified the Vekoma 335 (metres), i forgot exactly maybe slightly longer- so its safe to say its longer than that

Guessing your estimates are a little closer than my MS Paint and google maps measurements. Thanks for sharing!

I could be completely wrong but I'm not picturing this as a fast ride, with the exception of that straight section in the back

I think the ride experience will be more similar to Indy / Dinosaur than to RSR / TT

This might come off as a weird comparison… but I think it will be more similar to SDMT than anything. It’s a bit more analogous to a family roller coaster than all the dark ride comps being thrown its way. The RSR comparison is strictly because of the IP, but it’s really not that attraction at all.

I think it will displace SDMT in terms of LL-SP as well.

Once Piston Peak is open, I'm curious what early morning entry will look like. If it's open and Tron remains closed, thats going to be one busy end of the park very early.

My assumption is that the only reason Tron doesn't currently open with EE is so pump up ILL sales (I think 7D basically always sells out anyway).

If Cars Road Rally (CRR) is selling up LL anyway I wonder if Disney would consider early entry for Fantasyland, Liberty Square, and Piston Peak (leaving Tomorrowland, the rest of Frontierland, and Adventureland out)

Piston Peak, then following up with Villain's Land, WOW so important to MK. Tron, 7DMT will immediately feel relief, and I think that could trickle all the way down to even a Peter Pan (especially in the morning).

MK more often than not is an after thought for me; OR even just a cram it all into one day. If these attractions hit, or even if they are more solid B+, I truly think it gets me back to MK for return visits on a single trip.

**I do believe dining, in terms of quality sit-down continues to be somewhat of an issue at MK though. Not sure a themed Villain's experience truly helps this? With so many attractions at a park, maybe sit down restaurant's aren't a great way to spend time though.

Monsters Inc Area opening up within similar time frame, AK project going on; it's truly a wonderful few years set up at the end of this decade.

I just also hope EPCOT gets a little love because for the most part, the renovations were mostly a flat fall. It needs something new in WoL area (if the demolition rumor is true, with possibly an idea on what to do on that land).

This is probably some of the most positive I've felt about WDW projects in a long time, even if we still have to wait an equally long time.
