I have wondered if 90 minutes is truly the best format. But I worry that if we would ever go back to 60 minutes, that they'd keep the gimmicky stuff and cut the camp life and strategizing, much like they did in the late 30s and first half of the 40s.I’ve also noticed that the producers are doing something that happens in Big Brother. The players will read the directions for something (eg. looking for keys to open a box) and then they will immediately cut to a confessional of a player, or multiple players, saying exactly the same thing. It’s annoying on Big Brother and now it’s infected Survivor. Maybe it’s to help fill 90 minutes of air time?
100% correct about the edit. Suddenly Sophie is a mean girl and has to be voted out? When did we see that? While this was a solid episode again, it still feels like something is off. I'm thinking it has to do with the editing. People are being edited so weirdly. Alex's edit was so odd. I wonder if he would have gotten anything had he not been on the disaster tribe. He was playing both sides? Can you show that? They told us that, but we never saw it.
Kristina has been another one. Tonight was the first time we really saw her. We don't know who she is or what she's doing. We were told she had a final three with MC and was tight with her... we didn't see that. We were told it after the fact.
Steven seemed like he was the leader of the yellow alliance, but suddenly come the merge we goes quiet and seems to have no real plan. He's just there to make space jokes now? Who is he close with? Within the yellow tribe, who were his tightest allies?
We didn't see Sophie until last week, and now she's a major piece of the season. They never showed her in the beginning, and we never knew she was on the bottom until tonight's episode.
The only people I feel like are getting a well-rounded edit are Savannah, Rizo, Jawan, and maybe Blue Sophi. But even she's faded in and out. Sage has gotten decent content, but she disappears at times, too.
It's been a lot of telling us what's happening, rather than showing us. I just saw an article today saying 49's numbers are the lowest they've ever been for Survivor. In it, there was discussion about how production hasn't been promoting the season and are just riding it out until 50, and they've been putting a majority of the marketing focus onto 50.
Anyway, now that that's been said... the vote was actually interesting, even if the editing was off. Sage and Jawan are in a total swing vote situation. They're flip flopping, but I don't feel like they're being demonized for it as other have in the past. However, in the process, they're giving Rizo, Savannah, and Sophi more and more power with each vote they survive. They can now force a tie without using an idol. The fact that they haven't been able to flush Rizo's idol is baffling and showing how poorly the yellow tribe has played post-merge.
Moving forward, I think Jawan and/or Sage have to be a target sooner rather than later. Rizo, Savannah, and Sophi are going to want to take control of the game and not rely on the flip flopping. However, I can see Rizo trying to get Savannah at some point. Maybe Sophi uses the Knowledge is Power and takes his idol? That's all fan fiction, but it's something to think about!

You really don't? I'd say it's pretty obvious that it's 2 of 3 possibilities.I do not know who the two players from 49 that are on 50, but I think we’re getting an edit that is trying to justify, or show, why these two have been selected.
I think the same thing. I know who the 50 players are, but I'm trying not to spoil it for those of you who don’t.I do not know who the two players from 49 that are on 50, but I think we’re getting an edit that is trying to justify, or show, why these two have been selected.
