You don’t know why a person chose those mods. It may be a self-reclaiming act after a traumatic event.
Also, personally, a well-groomed person rocking an awesome hot pink hairdo is far more appealing to me than gelled hair
But that’s the thing. It’s subjective. I’d hire the most competent person, whether they have gelled hair or not.
I’m glad I can do that, and my employer doesn’t bar me from hiring the pink-haired person, forcing me to hire someone less competent or have an awkward conversation about changing their hair color, which may be a personal choice of expression after abuse, etc.
