Um, Actually: Trivia Game - Imagineering Weekends 2025

Let me try doing a question:

“After focusing on plenty of originals throughout the beginning of the decade, both Walt Disney Animation Studios & Pixar have started to make sequels to their beloved movies. These include Moana & Inside Out 2 in 2024, Zootopia 2 in 2025, Toy Story 5 in 2026, Frozen III in 2027, & Incredibles 3, Cars 4 & Frozen IV all coming in the future!”

Um actually, Cars 4 is not officially announced?

Um, Actually Incredibles 3, Cars 4, and Frozen IV will not be all "coming in the future" because they plan to use a time machine so they can release it in the past circa 2019 back when the box office was doing better

Sorry I’m late, but bingo! They haven’t announced Cars 4 yet, but they have announced a Coco 2!

It’s been 7 years since Cars 3 came out & i’m still waiting for it. Kinda crazy it takes Disney literal years to make sequels to their most beloved & popular IPs, but when they announced Hexed at D23 this year, they’re gonna release it in just about a year & a half from that said announce. Just wanted to put that out there.

As someone whose childhood movie was Cars, it’s a great franchise, but not everything needs a continuation, especially if it’s not telling a strong story in its own right. I enjoy both Cars 2 and 3, but they also left a lot to be desired.

If Cars 4 were announced, I’d hope it would be because a great story was pitched, 2 & 3 felt more like obligations. I think returning to Radiator Springs and the side characters there would be a great start. I felt a lot of the charm & heart from the first was missing in its sequels.

The “true” Cars sequel is the surprisingly great tie-in game.

I agree that a return to Radiator Springs would be the best way to continue. I honestly feel like a TV series would be better than a sequel for both Cars and Toy Story. No more big next step stories with pressure to raise the stakes, let's have smaller stories with these beloved ensembles! Looked how well it worked for Tangled and Big Hero 6! Do that Pixar!

I made a few questions about the forum itself that I held off on since they might pre-date some of our players joining the forum, but let's see if anyone gets them!

I mean, I definitely know the answer here but it wouldn't exactly be fair 🤣 It is VERY deep lore though, to the point where it wouldn't shock me if even people who were there for the VF era didn't exactly remember.

Um, actually...I DID compete in Season Eight: All Stars vs. Wild Cards where I played a very aggressive strategic game and even made an infamous "Mastermind Speech" at the end of the season laying it all out...a post that is likely lost to time but I'm sure if read now would be barely coherent edge-lord nonsense. I also competed in and won Season Twelve: Heart of Darkness which was the last season hosted on VF. @JokersWild and @MANEATINGWREATH hosted the two VF seasons I played in. Also gotta give credit to @spacemt354 for taking the reigns during Season 13: Uniting Universal and leading that season to be the giant open brainstorming project it ended up becoming

Also, some even more obscure lore

Um, actually...While I more or less take credit for inventing the game since I was the one who took the reigns and shaped it into what it ultimately became, I actually wasn't the person to come up with the game and its name. I did come up with a contest on the long defunct MouseTimes.com which @OSUBMac555 was also heavily involved in. The person who technically started the So, You Want to be an Imagineer game on VF approached me on the MouseTimes board and asked me if I wanted to be a judge. I was still heavily involved that season and ran every other season after that pretty much by myself until I played in Season Eight. @MANEATINGWREATH started helping me co-host back during Season Six which is still one of my all time favorites. It was the first season with teams, it was the first season to introduce the PoMVP, and it even had a really compelling storyline with one of the two teams of six losing the first three projects in a row only to stage a massive comeback and end up with the remaining three members (including OSU) as the final three for that season, outlasting the entire opposing team.

I was just thinking about how I really need to freshen up on SYWTBAI lore, so this was a nice excuse to do so!

This isn't fully updated but this has all the winners from Seasons 1-19 - have to update Season 20

While the original sites are down there is a blog that people copied stuff over to that captured your edge-lore speech lol

Um, actually
SYWTBAI “was” the longest -running as it has been discontinued.
Not what I was going for but barring a SYWTBAI: The Next Generation style legacy sequel it also is technically correct which is almost more in the spirit of this game than being actually correct lol

That thread was the resource I used to fact check my question! Was gonna have more SYWTBAI questions, but realized that once someone found that thread it would just be a cheat sheet haha
