Since Who Framed Roger Rabbit is turning 40 years old in 2028, what kind Disney can do something for Who Framed Roger Rabbit's 40th anniversary in 2028? A sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? A new Roger Rabbit comic book series? More new Roger Rabbit shorts? Who Framed Roger Rabbit 40th anniversary TV special? A new Roger Rabbit TV series for Disney+, or a new Roger Rabbit area land at Disney's Hollywood Studios?

Didn't you ask this just a few years ago -

Basically unless Ambin is on-board nothing is likely to happen with Roger. So like the 35th, I don't expect anything for the 40th either.

Amblin was just one of the original Films producers. Disney owns the IP film rights to its original characters. HOWEVER there still are all the other IP owners that would have to come onboard with legal agreements if their characters were to become involved.

Warner Bros, Fleischer Studios, King Features Syndicate, Felix the Cat Productions, Turner Entertainment, Time-Warner and Universal Pictures/Walter Lantz Productions

I'm going to be honest with you DIsneyfan, and as much as I would love to see a sequel of Roger Rabbit, but I'm with Irish on this. I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Sad, I know, but it is what it is.

Disney gaves rights to Roger Rabbit back to Gary K. Wolf, will Warner Bros. will get rights to Roger Rabbit from Gary K. Wolf?

This basically shows that Disney had no intention of doing anything with Roger again, as some of us have been saying.

I doubt WB would be interested at this point, at least not until they finish with whatever will happen with the company, ie either they are bought by another company like Paramount or they split.

Also Wolf is 84, so who knows what he’ll do here. He may just look to sell it to someone else.

Can Disney still sell Roger Rabbit merchandise?

Anyway, I think Roger Rabbit had the potential to be a major character in the Disney empire (he WAS from 88-mid 90s), but at this point it's been so long since the company has done anything with him. While Michael Eisner loved the character (before eventually focusing on other things after clashes with Spielberg), Bob Iger clearly doesn't care at all about the IP.

It looks like GKW wants to work with Disney again. Who knows, he sounds motivated to make a sequel.

I love roger rabbit but I don’t know if I want to see a sequel. The movie is an amazing fusion of animation and film noir but if they tried to make it today they would ruin it by toning things down too much. Jessica wouldn’t be a femme fetale, baby herman wouldn’t be as rude and you wouldn’t have characters from other studios. I think I would rather leave things as they are rather than a belated woke sequel

Somehow I would rather not have an Oswald show or movie unless it was true to the rubber hose feel of the original. Something like Cuphead would be fun

I hope Gary K. Wolf may finally make The Stooge starring Roger Rabbit and Mickey Mouse movie to be made in the future with Disney.

Well the man is 84, if he is going to do anything he better get started now. And he has no kids to pass it on to. So he really better do something soon.

Also I doubt Disney will lend out Mickey if they aren't directly involved. And since they gave up the rights, I doubt they'll do anything.

Agreed, if anything he has a better chance of making the movie with Warner Bros. Just replace Mickey with Bugs.
