Joe Rhode is remembered as... a rat?

There's six other animals in that photo and his homage is a rat-persona? Really?

Except the film and park both feature similar themes. So it fits because it fits
So any morality tale that preaches the importance of symbiosis and anti-greed is green lit for DAK now? Got it...

Know what's also missing? The movie's morality theme from the land. The land is just setup to admire the fake pandora.

Yeah, every stupid thing Disney does is accompanied by some fluff about how the people who worked at the company when it was a hotbed of real talent approve of the new slop.

Tony Baxter contributed to Tiana's and Chris Sanders totally thinks live action Lilo and Stitch is better. Yeah. Uh huh. Right. Edit: I am not sure if the latter was ever actually said.

Even if I believed them, I do not care. I come to my own conclusions and judge on my own.

I think you have a deep misunderstanding of both the movie and lands theme and story
I just burn off the fluff and get to the core of it. Unobtanium... the weakest conflict setup they could get to get back to Ferngully in Space. For the land, ACE is an setup to literally just admire fake pandora.

Sorry if this has been shared already.

Sounds like a half-baked attempt to drop a nugget to a news group to combat some criticisms coming out. Peer review means next to nothing and whatever "review" he offered I would guess happened farther along in development than would actually be beneficial to make meaningful change (in what is fundamentally a bad idea in the first place)

The Joe Rohde article reads like a heavy PR spin, taking feint praises of him and spinning them as full on approval.

And yes, agreed, it’s in his best interests to not openly hate everything else they do.

Lion King quite literally has two characters that “dress in drag and do the hula” which is explicitly mentioned in the AK show as well.

It’s also quite literally hamlet but with lions. A very human story. Lions don’t have social hierarchy’s either that prioritizes a male lion? There is no “Lion king”. There is certainly no “respecting the most powerful lion as a pride as ALL animals”

The animals in lion king live much closer to humans with a society. There is no trusted “monkey shaman”, no bird servants, no nothing. They are quite literally just humans in an animals SETTING that occasionally but rarely eat other animals as we never see this on screen.

Ironically this SETTING was never brought over

We’re aware that they’re not true to life depictions of the animal world, but they’re the closest a family friendly Disney IP is going to get. You can pick it a part all you want, but the point still stands - every “issue” with The Lion King is a significantly bigger issue with Zootopia.

Can we clarify Disney animated animals that talk in AK? Animals in the wild, such as in Lion King, Finding Nemo, Jungle Book, It's Tough to be a Bug, etc.), are fine. Humans that ARE animals that live as humans are not (Zootopia, Robin Hood). I hope I have cleared things up.
What about TaleSpin? They were animals before in Jungle Book and Poof! Darwin's Grab Bag comes in and made Shere Khan start walking on his Hind Legs?

I agree with this. I also think it's relevant to compare what it replaced, which was space heavily underutlized.
It was underutilized by design so they wouldn't be out much when it came time to knock it all down.

What got replaced was always known to be an opening day placeholder for the mythic/fantasy animal land that Avatar took the place of. This wasn't even an open secret. The now-defunct water taxis had a cave on the shore in this area with fire and parts of a knights suit floating in the water when you went by and they had dialog that made mention of the planned future of this space.

By the time they decided to go with Pandora, the Pocahontas show was already long gone (the outdoor theater being used for stroller parking for FOTLK). Other than some meet-and-greets, there really wasn't anything to miss when the axe fell on Camp Mickey and Minny and that was always the plan. The only real surprise is that FOTLK proved popular enough that they decided to relocate rather than end it.

Dragon rock is still there but now hiding in the overgrowth and the water that came out of his mouth was shut off .
