Ohhh, mascot costume performers or cosplayers at a convention. Seems pretty average to me. A bit “geeky”, sure. But aren’t we all geeks for DisneyParks here in a lot of ways? Heck, I tend to see these kinds of characters meeting and greeting there quite often.
Every time I try to be authentic and dress like Donald, the police always show up for some strange reason.

Totally agree with this. However, I think you’d wanna add to that that It’s more than just talking about this stuff that we’d wanna see. It’s ‘exploring’ these real-world concepts, cultural activities, & environments. Truly experiencing & Interacting with them in ways that are engaging, showing the very best these experiences & concepts can offer, in a way only WDI could do. You can have some fun with it too, but again, it has to stay thematically consistent. Think how Cranium Command for instance portrayed/showcased controlling the brain & regulating yourself through a day. It needs to be done in a way that’ll stick with you as a great experience you’d want to repeat again & again.

Oh, yeah for sure. I should have worded it better. I want them to show us these things, not just talk about it!

Frozen Ever After could be a voyage through Norway with the Frozen characters.
The Seas with Nemo and Friends could be a field trip with Mr. Ray through coral reefs.
Ratatouille could have us frantically trailing behind Remy as he scurries through Paris.

etc etc.

Ehh, usually a hat and blue sailor shirt will do the trick, as to not be easily confused with the real Donald Duck

In the case of Mickey’s Halloween Party, this might be more permissable.:

A Zootopia fan would be more likely to wear these though:

Chandler said it best:

“Why does Donald Duck wear no pants yet wraps a towel around his waist when he comes out of the shower?”
Cause he’s covered in feathers of course! Costs extra money to buy pants anyway. But hey, gotta wear something to match the rest of the “funny animals” around ya. Even Goofy decided to get both a shirt & pants after a while… but I digress.
In all honesty you just gotta be careful being Judy Hopps, it’s a federal offense to impersonate a police officer, ya know.

Except it’s not. WDI has been gutted. Most important engineering and design functions are subbed out. Remember Gensler? WDI is more construction management now than anything if it even does that in any fashion.

All that’s left is the public facing portion that needs to look appropriate.

All you have to do is look at their social media, you tell me what you see there.
Lots of misinformation in this post.

Exactly which is why it doesn’t fit. It fits only on the most surface level. WDW used to be better than that. Now they don’t care.

As far as politics I’m already seeing debates on X about this being a woke show or something… honestly don’t think that’s the issue but I do kind of see why Disney makes everything so bland and boring now. They want to avoid any risk of even possibly offending anyone in any possible way. But this has failed because people will always complain no matter what they do. So better to just take risks and make interesting attractions rather than this slop.
I don't take anyone who uses the word "woke" in a derogatory way seriously and that is most certainly not why this show is bad and not fitting to be housed in the icon of Disney's Animal Kingdom .

Whatever the “ingredients” are now…the recipe doesn’t taste good

Maybe if they give them 10 years and a trillion dollars to play with?
You mean their Special Spice gumbo recipe doesn’t make it all better? How dare you Sir Raleigh. You must be cursed with voodoo or something for thinking otherwise. :

In truth though, I believe executive meddling was ‘definitley’ at play somehow into making this show as bad as it is, as was a few other attractions we’ve seen of late that are pretty baffling regarding creative decisions made with them.

So again, what exactly is wrong with the message “everyone is welcome”?

I didn’t ask about Zootopia, or animal kingdom. I asked that poster what was wrong with the message they highlighted.

Seems pretty innocuous to me, the message specifically.

In the Zootopia universe, only mammals are welcome. The offer of peace, love, and harmony doesn’t extend to birds, reptiles, fish, or insects.

And that seems to the plot of the new movie, where apparently a snake comes to the city, gets framed for a crime because he’s a Snake, while Fox and Rabbit have to prove he is innocent.

The bugs in the show weren’t acting as humans. Sure they talked, but they were otherwise depicting species appropriate behaviors. The same can not be said for the “animals” in Zootopia. The characters in Zootopia are animals in appearance only.

Also worth noting that ITTAB featured a number of new characters specifically to showcase the “talents” and abilities of those insects, and why we should take notice of them.
“We bugs have been playing these roles for millions of years, but it seems you guys sometimes dont see us.”

Z is essentially all of the movie characters popping up to wave at the audience and goof off.
Does anybody actually care about Yoga Yak? Or is he there simply because he’s voiced by Tommy Chong, when Cheech Marin voiced Chili the marksman tarantula in ITTBAB?

How modern Disney views its audience:

Details please o Peter the great. That’s what your posts usually lack.

The whole wanna be insider act that you always pull grows tired when you provide nothing other than a one liner.
I’m not defending current WDI here. The new show along with some other recent projects is awful. There are systemic issues within WDI and a lot of immature “talent” through the ranks. But let’s not mislead. Your post may have included numerous “details” but what use are they if they are untrue or misleading?

I’ll bite though… define gutted?
